My MPG varies highly. I have some beefy KO2's which probably don't help much but if I am going 70 mph and there isn't hurricane force winds (I live in Wyoming so there usually is), I can get 19.

Having only one overdrive gear really hurts the MPG on these trucks. As soon as you hit a grade, you are in 4th revving high.

On state roads where the speed limit is 65 or less I can get 21-22 mpg.

City MPG will suck if you are driving short distances.

I also have a scan gauge and it it really shows you how to drive more efficiently. They are a good buy no doubt.

Update. I bought an ultra gauge and installed it last night. I only drove maybe 10 miles in the city running errands but my average was 17mpg. I'll be making an hour long trip today all highway so we will see what I'm getting then.

I feel like my problem was letting it idle in the morning before work. Thanks everyone for your input.

Keep in mind you won't have it calibrated until your next tank.

Can't speak to the ultragauge, have a ScanGauge which has 2 calibrations. 1 is for fuel, comparing pump at the station to what ScanGauge calculated as used. The second is for distance, with 2 ways to do it - either by mph (speedometer) or by distance (odometer). Did mine by odometer (50 miles) both by mile marker and by GPS, which I believe is more accurate that the mph/speedo method as speedo read 2-3 mph high, which is common for a lot of vehicles from the factory.

Also, for owners comparing miles per gallon after changing tires - if you replace tires with the same size, your new tire is taller than the old from tire wear which may account for some of the difference you see in mpg. When I got my Michelins (P245/75-16 oem size) the larger diameter caused the SG to be off - recording about 98 miles when I had actually travelled 100. . My plan is to check distance about every 10,000 miles to adjust for tire wear.

I'd rather not think of all the $ spent :(
Anchorage to Fairbanks in crap weather. 4H the whole way (running stock tires), loaded with crap. I'm happy with mine so far!

Ultragauge is reading average 12.7 MPGS. Up from 12.1 last time I reset it (shrug). I have been slightly more conscientious about driving and MPGs, but I didn't blow as much money as I did on this truck to worry about MPGs lol.
