I have a Tacoma 99 3.4 4x4. The engineer cold starts with no problem. Will not start when hot. I have changed plug wires and coils. cleaned and replaces IAV, Throttle sensor, Crank and cam shaft sensor. enginine coolant sensor, pcv valve replaced after market air intake with factory tube and air box, fuel filter and ran lucas gas treatment with high octane fuel...still had problems. I have isolated the problem to a Fuel pressure regulator...i hope. When the truck is hot and doesnt start i can run a little water over the regulator and it will start no problem. My question is...How do I change out the regulator?..It is located between air intake manifold and fire wall. Any advice appreciated. Thanks in advance

    This is from him:

Without seeing it and testing why it wont start when hot i wouldn't guess. Regulator? Idk. If pouring water over it helps ( possibly its vapor locked ) too hot. Finding a way to keep the rail cool would be the fix.

I was curious if the new fuel pump regulator fixed the problem. I have a 99 toyota tacoma with the exact same symptoms. Starts fine on cold days then on 90 degree days I'll crank and crank and crank two or three long cranks with breaks in between then finally start.
