Will do, we paid enough not to have these concerns. Mandatory BBQ after all is pono.

I'm not anti dealer, like many here, but that's some parts swapping booshit right there!
Ask for a no charge loaner, the more it costs them, the quicker the fix.

Not being funny, but will they loan vehicle to one sibling, mom, or dad, and you borrow theirs?
Not renting to young folks is a real thing, regardless, I'd look for where that's stated in the warranty, or ask them.

Okay, went to BI Toyota today. Bad news, they ordered and are going to replace the high pressure pump. Good news, I get to keep my truck while waiting for part.

2 different pumps, 1 in the fuel tank, and the other is the High Pressure pump mounted on the engine

Damn now I’m wondering witch one they are replacing for my truck? They told me they needed a new assembly so I’m assuming it’s the tank . Damn did they tell you what was wrong with the original pump?

If it were me, I'd want to see the cam lobe and old follower before they replaced the HPFP.

High Pressure Pump in engine. They didn’t elaborate but said it would be same day service.

Just had the same issue with mine last Thursday CEL and Trac off light felt like limp mode. I was 1/2 mile from home and tried to make it but died a few houses away and when it died it said transmission overheated and wouldn’t stay running. They said the same thing that it was the fuel pump and that it would be at least 10 days.... so we’ll see what happens. Will keep you posted.

Check this thread out as that also sounds like the CPS issue from a few years ago, there was a recall on 2016s if I remember correctly.

So just got my truck back yesterday, when I picked it up I asked to talk to the service manager and the tech who did the work on my truck. I asked the service manager what exactly caused the fuel pump to fail and what can I do to prevent this from happening again? He told me that it wasn’t the high pressure fuel pump like they originally thought. It was the low pressure pump inside the tank. He told me the ACDelco low pressure fuel pumps in the 3rd gen tacos are the same in the Camry, sienna, and Highlander. And at this moment he whispers to me that they had about a dozen in their dealership with the exact same failure.... He said it’s the same story for a lot of dealerships and Toyota is asking them to take note of the date of manufacture on the fuel pumps to possibly send out a recall on this. He told me they’ve had 30 plus in the past few months with this issue so he’s confident that a recall is coming soon. As of right now my truck is running like it never happened but time will tell and hopefully this doesn’t happen again. Hope this helps everyone with this issue and sheds some light on this.

Check your bed alignment with the cab - if they had to remove it to replace the pump, it may be off if the tech wasn’t careful.
