Last sentence especially...you've done most of the grunt work of getting to the item, plus this time of year especially in this part of the country it would especially suck to be stranded somewhere.

Very nice rig @Kristi with a K my wife had a 96 just like it when we started dating..

The fuel line fitting can be done with two small screw drivers. There are two tabs under the plastic outer cover & you push them in which releases it. However, that was doing it with the bed off. Autozone has a loaner kit with a tool that might make it easier given the way you are doing it. Oreiley's probably has one as well.

Emery. I lined the hole with gorilla tape, putting a little pressure behind wherever I was sanding to make sure it stayed in place & then a good run with the shop vac.

Unfortunately had my fuel pump die on me, and had to change it out. If you have the bed off already then you might as well change the pump with a new denso pump&filter. That said personally wouldn't go out of my way to change the pump unless I had a fuel issue such as a clogged fuel filter that would have stressed out the pump making it burn out sooner. If its been running fine for those hundred thousand miles with no signs of fuel issues then I wouldn't go through the trouble of taking off the bed to change the pump unless I wanted to just be on the safer side. (actually not a bad idea after 200k)

Between taking off the bed or dropping the tank, I personally much rather just take off the bed via 4 bolts, and disconnecting the light connectors. Just jack up the bed straight up, and back straight down when your done and your good to go bolting it back together. Personally only jacked it up from the front (side closes to cab) and get enough room to change out the pump. Haha I make it sounds easier than it sounds though, but to me its far more easy than dealing with old fuel lines/finding clearance to drop the tank and getting it back up there (especially if its not near empty).
