I am planing on doing the diff breather mod, so I crawled under the truck tonight to see what would be the best way to route the hose. While I was there I heard something turn on(the key wasn't in the ignition and the truck sat in the driveway for about 8hrs since I used it ) the temperature outside was about 30F . It sounded like the fuel pump kicking on. What else could it be?

Fuel pump. Mine has done this many times. Found out if you open fuel cap it will shut off... Strange..

It's not the fuel pump. It's the vacum pump in the evap system. It pulls a vacum in the fuel tank and related hoses and then checks for leaks......

Interesting to check into this. I have never seen a manufacturer put a vacuum pump in the evap system.

So I look up the system in my service manuals and it does actually show a leak detection pump for the EVAP system. Interesting. First time I have seen it. I will be doing more research on how this new diagnostic system works.

My truck made this weird pump wind noise today as it was sitting in the garage . I freaked out for a second but as soon as I looked it up multiple sites explained that its normal.
