Both are about the same, dropping the tank is a bitch cus you gotta disconnect everything and deal with a tank that likely has fuel in it.

The bed takes two people, buts its not much more than 6 bolts and two electrical connectors.

Im sure depending on which place you go and what truck you have will determine how they do it.

Got my second recall notice today. Called a dealership and was told plan about three weeks out. Got to start burning that fuel off probably take it to work a few times.

some people on here may be like me. I installed a "homemade from misc ebay and Amazon parts" tailgate locking device, but did not put any kind of a quick disconnect on the wires going to the tailgate. Pretty tough to lift and remove my bed.

I called my local dealer today, he said they have to order each pump based on the VIN number and it would take 7-10 days to arrive. I have a DCLB, the guy said they will drop the tank.

Mostly electrical shit that nobody cares about.
In that case, what the fuck, New Jersey?

I wish every registration mandated a resolved recall or else my old man wouldn't be driving a first gen with frame rot.

For those that have gone in for the recall, how do you know for certain the dealership actually installed a new pump?

I had this fuel pump replaced last weekend on my 2018 DCLB. They asked me to have low fuel in tank as they needed to drop the tank.

I don't. But I don't know there was a problem with the old pump. I do know that they pulled the truck into a bay and it was on a lift for a while, according to my dashcam, but if they went through all that trouble and didn't actually change anything I guess that's on them. I wasn't worried about it for the year I drove it before they fixed it and I'm not worried about it now.

Look forward to responses to this one. My dealer took 1 hour and 10 minutes in the non public garage to change this out (door closes after car is driven in). Has anyone else noticed exactly how long it took for their change time?
I'd imagine the dealer would get in pretty hot water if they do the recall paper work and not actually change the original fuel pump out.

If they did not change the pump and you were in a serious accident as a result, you would own the dealership. I doubt very seriously that they would risk a multi million dollar law suit to save a few bucks.

They had my DCLB for a total of 4 hours from the time I arrived for my appointment for installation & after the part/parts were in stock from ordering them from ???
I brought my taco in damn near empty thinking the tank will be dropped for the pump replacement BTW you had better bring yours in empty because if it's not the dealer has a device called a "gas buddy" it's a filthy tank with a pump they suck your fuel into to store it with God only knows what else is in that thing before your "fuel" gets returned to your truck along with everything else in that thing.......So beware.
I have no idea if anything was changed or not & upon picking my truck up it was raining so I couldn't really tell when I got to my shop to lift it up to see any marks on bolt heads or hose clamps were relocated so idk?
No performance difference or pump noises or anything noticeable

Oh another thing the new hilander they loaned me was a hybrid Let me be the first to tell you THIER SHOULD BE A LICENSE REQUIRED TO OPERATE THAT THING!!!
Ponder this thought...a 34yo soccer mom swatting 5 uncontrollable kids under the age of 6 sticking wet Skittles to each other in the back 3 rows of seats distracting the operator (mom) while driving a 4500lb ROCKETSHIP that is capable of zero to 60mph in less than 4 seconds among us mortals is fuggin scary as hell if you get my drift

My other ride is a 911 GT3 RS and a Ducati hypermotard 1100 I kinda know what quick is

I just got the recall performed on Tuesday. Took ~4hrs. Runs good, I think I notice an ever-so-slight decrease in lag when I step on the gas, which would make sense if the original pump was having issues.

Well, this morning the CEL came on and cruise control doesn't work. Drove it 20 miles to work and it runs just fine. Double checked that the gas cap is nice and tight. Taking her to the dealership this afternoon to see what's up.

I've had the replacement pump for about a week. I'd like to say it now smokes the tire and the bed slides off when taking off..I did notice that the slight hesitation when accelerating from a slow speed has disappeared. Example is when going thru the two traffic circles I pass thru daily it picks right up when accelerating out of the circle, Never did that before.

Yeah, that's pretty much my experience too. Just a tad less hesitation when accelerating.

Unfortunately the tech who installed the new pump managed to make a hairline crack in some plastic piece somewhere, so there was a vapor leak which was causing the check engine light. Now I'm stuck in a Highlander until Mon/Tue.

Had mine done on Monday. Not real happy with the dealer since I dropped it off at 7:30 and didn't get it back until almost 6:00 that night after calling to see wtf was going on. Showed up and there was a good amount of snow/ice on it so it has been done for a while. Like enough to where driving home while looking through about 6 square inches of windshield. For future reference when the service writer asks "do I have it all day?" the answer is no. No noticeable change in driveability which I suppose is good.

Sounds like guys are leaving the dealerships with more problems than when they arrived. Anyone attempted to do this fuel pump replacement themselves?
