I have an access cab... pretty sure they just lowered my tank. I also had my RTT over my bed. They asked I roll in with 1/3 or less tank. I rolled in with '10 miles fuel remaining' - figured the lighter/easier I made it for them, the better and less risk for me. Job went fine, no issues that I know of.

When I arrived for mine they asked if the tank was 1/4. I said you’ll have to push it into the bay.

They notified me of it late last year but every time they mentioned it they also said no remedy available. When I called to schedule the 25k they brought it up again and said the remedy is available. Dropping it off Saturday morning.

    It's complicated.
Thanks for the reminder; I just made the service appointment to get it done this week.

Called to scheduled mine today. They said they need to order the parts so they scheduled me for a week out and said to have 3/4 or less in the gas tank when I show up or they can't do it.

I was specifically told to have 1/4 or less gas in the tank, otherwise they wouldn't do it (due to weight.)

Maybe different dealers have different requirements.

When I did mine they did not mess with the bed (I have a camper shell). Based on what I have read on this thread it depends on where you take it I sopose. I took 2 Tacomas to get the fuel pump and neither required bed removal both taken to the same dealer and same tech doing the job.

Went in earlier this week for a NC state inspection. Dealer scheduled me for a fuel pump two days later. Dropped off at 0930. Done by 1100. Free Uber/Lyft to the breakfast joint down the street.... hard to beat. I brought it in with around 3/8 tank but they didn't make a fuss about it.

Dropping my 2017 tomorrow for the recall . Was adamant about it because my 2017 has been trouble free but that recall has been showing on my geico app (annoying. Im just concerned geico might blame me for negligence if I refuse to have it done in case of stalling in the freeway and causing accident). Hoping they don't screw things up .

Toyota dealership called today...can't get me in until May 14...and No Loaner. 1/2 tank of gas or less or they won't do it. Mentioned the Bed and she asked if I meant going inside the vehicle....I almost hung up the phone.

I spoke with Toyota Brand Engagement about the Truck Bed specifically..it took her a few minutes but she said NO WHERE in her documentation does it say anything about touching the Bed of the truck. She did find that it said they remove the back Seats..as there were instructions about how to remove and replace them in the doc.

I got an appointment. My dealer ordered the part and then i will come in. I mentioned the Bed being empty or the Backseat as well. He said nope dont worry about it. They will just lift and drop the vehicle/gas tank. Free loaner IF there is one availbe at the time of drop-off. Otherwise it will be an uber back home out of pocket. Estimated 4-6 hours. Pick up same day late afternoon by the latest. oh, and 1/4 tank at time of drop-off as well
