fuel pump resistor issues

Hi everyone, A recent Tacoma owner/member here. I've been reading lots of great stuff here,what a great forum. Just wanted let you all know of a recent problem with my '07 Tacoma 4.0 V6 and how I fixed it. Hopefully this will help others. Driving along,truck running perfect & it just stalled like you shut the ignition off. It started right up but only ran for 6-8 seconds & died again. It did this over & over. Went online to this & other sites but didn't find where anyone else had exactly the same problem. Some were similar though so I tried some of the suggestions but no luck. Got it towed home where my tools are,checked more things,no luck. Online again,found talk about the fuel pump resistor. When I realized what it does I disconnected it & I bypassed it with a paper clip. Started the truck & it runs again! I couldn't get a new resistor for over a week so I though I'd try a ballast resistor for Jeep & Chrysler products. Picked one up at the local NAPA, part #ICR11 for $8.49. It works fine,the truck's been running great for 200 miles. I've decided as long as it keeps working fine I'm not going to replace it. If anyone else has done this let us all know how it worked for you. If I have any problems with this I'll keep you posted

Just went through the same thing. Tow truck, motel, car rental. Was On my way to work out of town.
Garage couldn't get proper part from Toyota, so jury rigged a starter resistor and works fine so far.
