Depending where you live cutting them off and replacing might be the easy way .

Living in the rust belt 6 point sockets and wrenches are a good idea .

It doesn`t hurt to have a set of the Irwin sockets for rounded hardware .

Those Irwin sockets for removing rounded nuts or bolts have worked amazingly well for me

Here's planning to lift the bed from the side. I have other work to do to the outside frame. So the job has a dual purpose. I haven't settled on a a good way to secure the bed while I work under it. I may use my engine hoist.

I will be putting a big piece of cardboard or plywood between the bed and the cab to reduce the chance of denting something while I lift the bed.

Discussion thread on lifting the bed.

I’m looking at having the bed removed too to clean up some small rust spots
and paint the top of the frame. May as well put in a new fuel pump while the bed is off.
The last Fuel pump went out at 300k and I’m at 605k.

Possibly have some frame supports welded too,
Still on the fence on these tho
