Fuel Rail/System Pressure - low / P0087

Was driving today and the taco went into limp mode and threw a check engine light and disabled a trac. I parked and checked for anything weird then it drove like normal. Went to autozone and got the P0087 code. A few hours later I left work and the check engine light was gone.

Has anyone had experience with this? I got the fuel pump recall when it first came out, is it possible this has anything to do with that?

 

This happened yo me today as well will contact dealer.

Yes I did. Just got off the phone with them told me to leave the error code but I could not as I was on a major road when it occurred. Fortunately I carry my code reader and can clear it on the fly in like a minute.

 

Interesting. Wonder if they botched it somehow.

Both are manual his never threw that code we both have desert air intake only real difference his is pro mine is not

 

Spoke with Toyota corporate have a case number and will be contacted within 1 business day by service manager to have them look and document my vehicle. I suggest all who have this issue contact them directly versus the dealer as they may not forward it to corporate. She documented that I had error code P0087 and when it went into limp mode it almost caused an accident.

 

Had to get it towed today

 

What happened?

I went to the dealership and they ran it on the computer for any error codes but nothing came up. They told me that the gas cap potentially came loose? Haven’t had any issues since then.

 

Waiting to see what they say but I will not accept it as fuel cap 100% (ish) sure that is not the issue.

 

Hu gas cap …. Never heard a vehicle having problems running with a gas cap loose . Shit i have seen people driving around with the gas cap completely off . Lol
