In my shop I’ve had ethanol blended gas go bad in as few as 3 weeks if untreated. I’ve also had the best luck with k100 g+ fuel treatment.

Ethanol blended fuels can go bad sooner depending what their stored in and where...sunlight is bad.

ok....allow me to ask a question.

Lets assume the 10% blend is bad for engines..... Why aren't more vehicles disabled on the road, repair shops jammed and recalls happening?

My anecdotal experience is beginning in 1976 when 10% first arrived in my area. At the time I was driving a 1963 Buick rust bucket built to use leaded fuel. I was a high school kid with limited pocket money, 10% was cheaper than leaded. I burned the 10%. That old Buick ran for 3 years without carb or fuel related problems. It died due to oil related problems.
I've been running 10% in ALL my rides since. In the last 44 years of driving, I have NOT had issues with 10% fuel. This powers all my engines motorcycle, 2 cycle chainsaw, snow blower, lawnmower, 2 cycle weed whacker, truck, SUV and CUV.
I also don't see many dead cars on the road or hear about people with fuel problems related to 10% blend fuel.

I do hear many internet mythconceptions reported over and over and over........ad nauseum.

Think about it. There are literally 1000's of vehicles and engines running on 10% blend. If the mythconceptions were true, then there would be a tremendous outcry from owners. Americans are intimately linked to their vehicles. Hell, if a law suit over a spilled cup of coffee in a car has merit, don't you think there would be suits on 10% blend?

Frankly, all gas will separate from water simply due to the specific weight of the 2 liquids. Project Farm showing separation as bad is just misleading.

I keep mine in 5 gallon containers. Initially it was plastic and recently I have added 5 gallon jerry can type containers.
I keep them in my garage.

You are on TacomaWorld, where only the most dire predictions are postulated. Normalcy and averages are just wild untruths here at TacomaWorld. We never let facts get in the way of a good post at this place. Stick around and you will learn the .0001% of what can happen if things are done absolutely wrong.
    Hope this helps.

I keep a few gallons handy. I use stabilizer and a short of carb/injector cleaner it. Not sure how it is in the US, but in Canada, farm (marked/"purple") gas is mid-grade and always ethanol-free. Best thing to use for small engines and storage.

If I topped off my fuel cans on Saturday, is it worth putting stablizer in now?

So, just to be clear, because now is the time to ask and be sure: any of the stabilizers mentioned to this point would be good to go in my Taco?

With e-10 you can see the water on the bottom of it’s separated. It can smell bad too, although I wouldn’t stick my nose in a tank and take a haul for obvious reasons. If you filled your tanks within the last week or so you should be good to put stabil or startron or k-100 or whatever in there.

I've been using Pri-G for the last 10-15 years.
    • Fill up the gas cans in the Fall for the backup generator.
    • In the Spring, any unused gas is then used in the lawnmower/line trimmer/leaf blower/chainsaw/wood chipper throughout the Spring and Summer.
    • In the Fall if I have gas left, it goes in the cars and I start the process over.
I've never had any issues with bad gas.

Edit: I use whatever gas my local Costco has in the pumps, so it has ethanol.

I agree ... On my tiller .. ATV ... Lawn tractor ... I've always (For 20 years) used Sta-Bil and never a prob. And these machines will sit for 4-5 months at a time. (Long hard winters here..)
To be fair though, I only run non-ethanol gas in them, so I'm not really sure if that's a major factor in it or not. If it is, it wouldn't surprise me.

Ethanol attracts moisture. Sitting in metal cans attracts condensation especially in winter. If you havent had issues with bad fuel yet leave the snake oil on the shelf. My old Tundra would sit for 3-5 months with a partial tank of fuel and it never had a fuel related problem, or any problem once I hooked up the smart battery charger to my solar array and let it sit.

Ethanol free is good for 6 months to a year no problem. My Tacoma has a 1/4 tank still left from March when I started work from home.

My motorcycles had 3 year old no ethanol with stabilizer. The two fuel injected started fine, though they did stumble at more than half throttle. The carbureted one took a bit of cranking and would not come off choke until the bowl was cleared of old fuel.

My 99 Dakota had 5 year old stabilized fuel and had been sitting 3 years in a shop without starting. I pulled the fuel pump relay to crank it for oil pressure. Dang thing started on residual fuel pressure on the first crank.

I use the chevron power sport stabilizer. The research I did showed it equal or better than any brand in all fuel stability and quality tests. My town has fishing lakes so no ethanol is easy to find.

I use the Star Tron stabilizer in the motorcycle during the winter. It’s carbureted so I take all the steps I can to keep the fuel from gumming things up.
