Scepter MFC military Fuel Jugs. 15 Gal Total. These things are indestructible as i used them a lot in the marine corps infantry. (Always strapped to the back of the HUMVEES). In my bed year round for the most part. They will expand during the heat of summer but will never explode or rupture. Cycle the fuel out couple months or so. Stored with Stabil. Added about 100lbs but ride quality over bumps at highway speeds are better / more controlled. (Rear of trucks are lighter so you know what i mean when it wobbles over bumps and higher speeds). Running out of fuel is always been my OCD. So this was my always prepared solution.

seems like overkill for day-to-day activities. you really shouldn't run out of gas anywhere in the city. granted, i don't know your lifestyle, where you have to go, etc. it's a good setup for weeks out in the back country. fwiw, those are the canisters i'd go with. i can get actual metal military surplus for like 1/3 the price of the sceptres but i don't know the advantages/disadvantages of either

Those canisters are meant to be upright . Not the smartest way to store those .

It’s not a donkey from scepter. There’s a seller on eBay that makes his own donkeys for way cheaper. Good stuff and def a good piece to have

Hmm. Maybe. Do you have a reason why? I’ve been through a hot summer where these expand. It had no problems being on its side. I replaced the flange on these with a aluminum one as well so it’s seal is pretty much indestructible. These cans have been through hell and back when I used them day in and day out in the infantry. I don’t think it being on the side will have a devastating effect on it’s integrity.

Oh yeah. It’s definitely overkill I would have to agree haha. But it’s secondary benefit of adding some weight in the bed helps out in the snow and road manners when going over bumps at highways speeds so I just keep them back there
