I have a 2019 pro with 22,000 miles. Fuel pump recall was done about 3,000 miles ago.

Today I stopped for gas and when I went to start the truck it just turned over but wouldn’t start. Some guys helped me push the truck to the side and I phoned a buddy to bring his code reader because the engine light was on now. 2 of the codes were P1072 and P1075 (Rich) and the other 2 codes I cannot remember but they were both lean codes. After letting it sit for a few and clearing the codes it started up running sluggish but then cleared up.

When I pull the gas cap off there is a huge release of pressure followed but the idle jumping up and down. The exhaust smells heavily of gas fumes. The only other thing I’ve done is pulled the MAF sensor and it is not dirty. Truck is under warranty but the dealer cannot even look at it until 9/28 and they are not trying to come off of a loaner vehicle. Any help would be appreciated

    UPDATE
Crawled up under the truck this morning to check the connections to the canister and everything looked good. Fired the truck up and took it around the block and everything seemed fine other than the idle seeming a little low (500-600 rpm range in drive but jumps to around 750 with ac on). No longer getting the pressure blow off when removing the gas cap. Dealer manager called and moved my appointment up to Monday to get it looked at. Thanks for the responses everyone

If an EVAP canister purge valve doesn't hold vacuum it's no good.

I'm not sure tbh. But after fueling, the canister is full of fumes, (rich), once canister is cleared, the fuel trims are tanked (lean). Sounds like your purge is stuck open. But seriously, don't trust me, I'm a nobody on the internet. Bare minimum I'd do a visual inspection on the Purge valve.

I was just about to ask that. Bet raw fuel was forced into the canister. Often times that's not covered under warranty.

Probably has nothing to do with the fuel pump work

Dealer says stay away until September 29th ? ? ?

I'd tell the dealer that I'm bringing my truck in today because of issue created by their fuel pump install, let them prove otherwise.

I've never been turned away from a dealership, no matter how busy they are. Did you purchase your Tacoma from this dealership?

Yes , it’s actually the 2nd Tacoma I’ve purchased from them in the last 4 years. The breakdown happened after the service manager had left for the day and I will be letting her know I’m pretty dissatisfied when she returns my call.
