    Hi Folks!
While driving a load of compost to my garden, my trusty stead of a 1999 2.4L 4 Cylinder 2wd, otherwise known by my sons as my POS truck (LOL), lost power and died. It would start up, but cut out shortly after.
I've changed the Fuel filter (long over do) and have just replaced the fuel pump motor. She starts up fine, but then cuts out and I can hear the fuel pump motor hum for a sec before it quiets.
This truck has helped me remodel 1 house, build another from scratch and hauled fire wood, soil compost etcetera...it's got 165,000 miles on it, so it's not ready for the old trucks home. I don't have alot of $$ so I'm trying to DIY this myself. Ny advice about what could be wrong and how to fix it would be so greatly appreciated! It's the only vehicle I've ever owned and you could say I'm attached to it!

    Peace, Peter

Does it cut out after an amount of time passes, or is it after you try to do something?

Could it be the MAF? Try unplugging it and starting it to see what it does.

    Test fuel pressure
    Try cleaning MAF
    Check compression

Lots of free/cheap tests you can do and things you can try.

The fuel pump doesn’t run unless it sees a crank signal.
The fact that you have changed the fuel filter and pump has thinking there may be an issue other than “fuel”.

I’d check the truck for codes.
See if you have any codes present and go from there.
