    Thanks

Seafoam all day everyday, actually works. Personally I would purchase 2 cans, half a can in the tank, full can throughout the engine. I believe there is a TW thread of where to place it and flood the engine but I can't find it, hopefully someone has it.

It's good to run through the fuel tank every so often for good measure, I try to do one with every oil change. If you want to use it to it's full potential, run it through the throttle body to help clear out carbon buildup. This has to be done carefully though. Running it through the fuel tank is easy and good to do to help keep the fuel lines and injectors clean.

Techron is supposed to be legit as well from what I've read...though overpriced compared to others because it's "Chevron" I think. Lucas is a good brand, too.

Hard idle maybe mechanically. I've used it as a maintenance but I don't do it very often. It isn't even a once a year thing, more like every 2 or 3 to keep heads clean, valves, etc. It's been tested many of times and shown real results of actually cleaning away carbon build up on runners, valves, etc.

I'm at 103k, put half a can in the tank at 100k. Did a full can through everything at 50k, I'm looking to do another can through the system soon because I feel a weird idle sometimes, lots of carbon built up on the exhaust pipe.

Also Seafoam Trans Tune works well for transmission and powersteering, though my power steering seems very tight, hard to move the steering wheel sometimes.

I use Techron maybe once or twice per year for 10+ years. I've watched enough YouTube maintenance videos and fuel injector maintenance videos. It's a pain in the ass to clean injectors when they clog up especially if you don't have the special cleaning tool...and fuel injectors are annoyingly expensive to replace.

Techron isn't snake oil...I've never had a problem with my injectors on any car.

Redline injector cleaner, Techron and Seafoam are all safe to use items.

But its very unlikely that most folks need to use it, or that you'll notice any difference in performance/MPG when you do.

No harm, other than your wallet, will be done, even if the vehicle doesn't need it.

If your truck is running fine, I see no point.

I use it for gummed up small engine fuel systems.

If you are in the habit of leaving your truck sit for 2 years, it would be a good thing.

Otherwise, in not going to waste the money.

So I have tried the Seafoam and then I tried Techron. Techron seemed to work better. Reduced engine ping in my Taco. In doing some research I see that Techron and some of the others like Redline are detergent types of treatments while Seafoam has some oil in it and solvents. So I am now doubting Seafoam vs the Techron, Redline type of treatments.

    Just some of my thoughts.

Do you mean ping / pre-detonation?

It's never going to increase power/mpg, it's there to help clean it out. Rough Idle is the main reason I do it.

If you're pinging when accelerating you might be looking at bad/old spark plugs
