    Hey guys,

So this is really strange. I know there are tons of threads on this topic. BUT, I'm yet to find one that actually explains whats going on with my truck. I have a 2014 Tacoma XSP-X PreRunner that I've owned for a few months (purchased from Toyota dealer certified-preowned). Gas tank should be 21 gallons as per the manual and the internet. However, I have never been able to put in more than 12 gallons. 12 FREAKING GALLONS! Normally it's only 11 something. That's pretty much half that tank unused. I always fill up when the light comes on and needle is pretty much at rock bottom. So either I bought the truck with a gas tank half-full of drugs or something is way off. Please help!

    Tony,

First I should mention thanks for the laugh on the drugs comment.

    Second, nice looking truck.

Third, sounds like you have one or a few issues. Could be a stuck float, faulty gauge, or the evap line that allows the gases to vent while filling is plugged up.

When you add the 11-12 gallons, does the needle go from empty to full? How many miles are you getting per tank?

Haha drugs in the tank was the only thing I could think of! Yes, when I add the 11 gallons the needle goes from rock bottom to full. Getting only 200 miles per tank average. But the needle is behaving just like normal, no jumps or erratic behavior.

200 miles with 11 gallons is about 18 mpg which seams about right with standard driving.

Yes is covered under the Toyota Certified warranty. Also have the bumper to bumper for the next year. I haven't taken it to dealer yet because it's a weird thing for them to replicate. Make them fill it up to prove capacity?

Well, you don't really have to get them to replicate this one. I would think before you go, snap a pic once the low fuel light comes on, snap a pic of receipt showing the gallons in took and snap a pic showing it is "full". Log mileage too.

Well you could drop the tank and see if there might be $100,000 in there taking up room?

The tank is 21 gallons? I've only ever been able to put ~16 in my 2013 Sport when the light is on.
