EDIT- Repaired and on the road!

    Good afternoon all,

My fuel tank was drilled by a friendly individual who wanted some gas.

I was able to source a replacement tank, however it appears to be slightly different (filler hose connection is different, seal for fuel pump is different.

I currently have no tank in the vehicle and am trying to source a new one ASAP so I can get back on the road, so I figured I would reach out to the tacoma homies and perhaps someone knows.

I have a 2019 TRDOR Access Cab. Part number on the tank is 77100-04.

First order of business for me is to call the dealer tomorrow and see if they can source one, and then the auto dismantler.

I would prefer to get one from the dismantler... significantly cheaper. However it appears that all third gen tanks are not the same.

The toyota website isnt able to verify fitment either so it makes things shitty.

Anyone have any insight on this?

EDIT: This is what I will attempt to do tomorrow.

You can safely seal that hole. Google it, there are a lot of products and it'll be cheaper.

Shitty. Realistically im looking to see how many variations of fuel tanks there are for third gen tacos, so I can ask around for the proper one from a dismantler.

Since the tank is out, this would be easy to do. I used a temporary patch a few months ago, however it has failed.

    Ill look into it, thanks.

This should be the right one. Sucks, I know.

Unfortunate, I poorly assumed the dismantler would get me the correct tank.

Since the tank is out.... Is there any way I can just match the material type and use a plastic welder on it?

You may be able to find a screw that fits the size, then go from the inside out, cut it off, then seal it....maybe?

Weld would work, just make sure you get the right material....I'm not sure what these are made out of.

Right, I just need to figure out what material our tanks are made out of. It is probably polyethylene.

Almost every one of these gas tank / catalytic converter theft threads has one thing in common... California.

What the hell is wrong with people out there? I was robbed more than a few times in AZ but man things are getting out of control. Like the sun fries peoples brains.

I live in one of the biggest Canadian cities with the lowest crime rates, we still have drilled tanks and stolen cats.

Newark has a reputation does it not?

Kinda looks to me like there are 2 different fuel pumps - one for 4 cylinder and one for 6 - could they have different tanks?

Alright, looks like third gen tacoma tanks are made from HDPE

HDPE has a melting point of 275F. Gas has an instant combustion temperature of 525F.

So I can play the fun game of finding some HDPE, cutting to same size as hole, and plastic welding it w.o exceeding 525F.

    wooo
