Hi, all. I have a question for the 1st gen guru's among us.

My 01 DC 4wd needs a new fuel tank. I have the opportunity to buy one on Craigslist, but it's from a 2wd truck, I'm assuming a regular cab or extended cab. I know the 2wd models supposedly have a 15 gal. tank vs. the 18.5 gal. tank. The diminished fuel capacity doesn't bother me, I just want to know if it'll fit in my truck before I buy it.

    What're your thoughts?

Is it a regular 5 lug 2wd or a Prerunner? I had a first gen Prerunner (1999) awhile back and I'm 99% sure it was the same size fuel tank as the 4x4

I'm assuming it's a 5 Lugger, Prerunners are pretty uncommon around here. I imagine a Prerunner tank would be identical to a 4wd's.

Worst case scenario, it's a regular cab, 5-lug. Think it'll work?

Not sure, someone else will have to chime in, I've never seen or done a fuel tank swap
