Hey all! I got bilstein 5100’s and fuel vector 16’s along with 285’s done about a year ago. Went to get my first tire rotation today at a local oil change place that also does rotations(I don’t drive too many miles per year) and they tell me the lug nuts we’re over torqued and the tires wheels were installed wrong. They said that the way it was installed could potentially crack the wheel. And that there should have been a spacer. Now the shop I got it done at had a great reputation for over 35 years but recently closed due to the owner’s health. I have an appointment with a local tire shop I a few days but has anyone encountered this?

Sounds like they’re lug centric instead of hub centric.

Yes that’s the terminology they used. Is there a work around? What’s the fix?

A pic of the lug nuts in the rim may help.

Is the bore an issue as well?

I've seen this a few times, but usually its from lug nuts too small.

Would a typical tire shop have that spacer?

Ok thanks for all your help. I figured it out with researching hub centric versus lug centric. I think discount tires can fix it.

Boy I’ve learned a bunch today about all this. Mostly from this site. According to some other threads you can get away with not having the hub centric rings if it’s torqued properly but overall the rings are better. So I will get the hub rings but I don’t know why my shop didn’t use them in the first place

What was the fix from DTD? I am looking at purchasing these wheels in a 17x8.5 -6mm offset but hesitant due to them being 2mm wider hub bore than the hub on the truck.

DTD said there is absolutely no issue. The fuel wheels are off-road wheels precision made to not need any spacers at all. They do all of their fuel wheels this way. However they did inform me that the lug nuts I had were too long do my wheels. We put on some shorter ones. That’s probably why they were over torqued. this serves me right for trying to get a tire rotation at a non tire specialty shop. got me all worked up for nothing.

Awesome! were you using the stock lugs or did you buy an aftermarket set?

Any of you guys have vibration issues from the 2mm hub size difference? I'm about ready to pull the trigger on these (17x9)
