I noticed it while pumping gas this morning. It seemed like it was overflowing. It looks like it was coming from the tank. When I stopped the pump, the leaking stopped eventually. I then checked the gauge and it was already full. Observing it now if it will have puddle under the truck. Anybody have any idea what could be the issue? Truck is a 2020 with only 500 miles.
    TIA.

Perhaps the pump just never shutoff? I've had that and it didn't just shoot out or anything like that. It was a different vehicle though.

If you didn’t have the nozzle all the way in it won’t cause that back pressure needed to shut off when full.

Did you install anything recently or drill / enlarge the drain holes in the front of the bed?

Ooof if fuel was coming OUT of the fuel tank from overflow you should look st your charcoal fuel canister. It can lead to CEL from "topping off" so it may have flooded that as well. Also if you can't find out if it was because of your vehicle reach out to the station you got fuel from so they can fix the problem.

Like other poster I had this happen with another vehicle before.

I never figured out if it was an issue with my actual vehicle or if it was just something with that particular pump.

One of the times it happened we were out of town and for some reason something told me to not use that pump. I think it was connected to another pump that was out of order or something. But it was the only pump that was open.

Then I usually go to the same gas station on my way to work and had it happen two or three times at a particular pump there. Shortly after that the gas station did change all of it's pumps.

In the forums for that vehicle people did mention an issue with an evaporator hose and/or the charcoal canister which would cause fuel to come out of the opening while filling up.

But it never happened enough or frequently for me where I went to troubleshoot if it was an issue with my vehicle or if it was an issue with the pumps I was using.

Did you fill up a gas station and pump that you normally go to?

Since it's a new truck hopefully it's just an issue with a bad gas station pump.

Just remember that the Tacoma takes about 21 gallons and depending on how much you have left, estimate how many gallons go in and stop if it doesn’t. Don’t necessarily depend on the pump to stop for you.

OP, if you are looking for positives, you found the source quickly, there is that at least.

(Dont be surprised if it throws a CEL until you fix it, when it does a fuel system leak pump check at nite...)

    Damn man, sorry
As @whatstcp said, it looks like an all labor job, order the tube assembly and text some friends. Maybe post on the Regional forums and see if a local-yokal or two will help.

I ended up paying less than $500. I guess the trick is to identify what part needed replacement and get a quote for the labor. When I got quoted for $380 labor, I jumped on it and got it done. It was supposed to be $520 plus tax but at the end of the day, they still offered me military discount. It was an expensive mistake but it could have cost me a lot more if the dealer took advantage of me like how most treat their customers. Thanks for all your tips/advice TW!!!

I wouldn’t worry about overfilling too much, the evap system has a stop valve that will prevent fuel from going into the canister. When you top off there is an overfill that’s dumps behind the bed before the rear tire on purpose. It’s a small hole there under the filler.
