Been looking to replace the rack on a 2000 first gen prerunner and keep hearing
how dreadful the knockoffs from China are..I know they ARE capable of producing
top quality stuff( they are commies, but for now that's another topic).
Someone out of Japan is selling a rack on ebay for about 3 bills and some change.
Anyone have REAL VERIFIABLE reports on these guys ?
The markup on an OEM is or should be against the law.
Thx to all who keep it real.

Did some googling, seems like "Joint Fuji" is a legit Japanese producer of parts for 4WD vehicles. Wouldn't surprise me if they produced some of the parts in Toyota's OE supply chain based on the vehicles they've listed here: http://www.jointfuji.com/jointfuji_catalogs.htm

And the description on this product page says Joint Fuji is a Toyota subcontractor (Joint Fuji is in the breadcrumbs): https://shop.cruiserparts.net/index...t_info&cPath=2731_3185_3189&products_id=66189

That said, their catalog doesn't show any complete steering racks http://www.jointfuji.com/catalog/fuji_4X4_Catalogue.pdf

And the logo on the bags here:

Is a bit different than the ones shown on the eBay listing you mentioned. Could be a very tricky fake, or could be different packaging/branding.They have a contact form on their website, might be worth asking if those steering racks are legitimate.

Curious if you ever reached out to the company. Or if anyone else has experience with this company? I just ordered one for my 97 but now I'm thinking I should cancel it and buy from Toyota.

I would always go OEM for critical parts such as a rack. In my research it appears aftermarket racks leak or fail much sooner. The price hurts, I know, I just replaced my a month ago and it cost $495, shipping was $89. I looked at all these aftermarket ones and the prices were terribly enticing but my gut instinct said I'd be replacing it again within a few years. It's a good investment.
