Full Size Spare in Bed w/ Platform Ideas

    Im about to make the jump from 33" to 35" and can no longer store my full size spare under the bed. Not being a huge fan of a swing out of the rear bumper, I am conceding to the fact that my short bed is about to be more cramped. With that said, I have a basic platform in the back of bed similar to the Bam Beds style (a sheet of ply wood cut into 3 pieces), that I would most likely need to trim and add support to at least one of the three boards.

    I would love to see if any others on here have done something similar to get some inspiration... Or am I looking at this from the wrong direction? I know some choose to just drive without one unless hitting trails, but I prefer to have a permeant home for one. Thanks in advance for any help.

    You can technically run a 35 in the spare spot with a little work. I run a 35x10.5 in the spare location because it doesn’t hang as low as a 12.5 inch tire would. I leave it aired down and in the event I ever need to swap it I have a compressor. Also I have an aftermarket bumper, idk if it would work with stock.

    Not for everyone but it is an option

    The skinny 35 is a good call for the spare. My biggest concern would be the exhaust being so close to the tire. I cut mine to dump over the axle, so I dont think it will make contact, but the heat will be beating on the tire unless I reroute it or something.

    Ya I have the AFE rock basher which dumps before the axle
