Check out the Five Star Car Stereo channel on YouTube soon. They’re about to put out a video on a 3rd gen Tacoma with AudioControl amps and hertz speakers. They do the whole 9 yards in their installs so you’ll see the gold standard

I have 2 jl w3’s and it’s just perfect for me. They are getting about 250 watts a piece. I also have a Helix dsp with Morel 3 way components.

Helix dsp is my vote if you want the best sq. If space is an issue I would go with an audiocontrol d6.1200 to power the components, and a small monoblock for the subs. Zapco z8 dsp/amp is also a nice unit. There’s quite a bit of options out there. It really comes down to budget and what kind of sound your going for.

Are the subs behind the back seats? If so who built the box? Im worried about the sound quality because of the limited air space.

Now i cant wait to see this one. They do some great work but a Taco with AC and Hertz is up my alley. Ive been looking at that 4 channel AC amp as am option to over the powerpack and a sub amp

Box was built by Marv. Jl w3s only need .625 per sub I think. They don’t need much. They hit hard with 250rms a piece.

I love the amps, clean power and they dont take up a ton of space either.

Did you install spacers to the back seats? And can the rear seats fold down and up without hitting the subs?

I added washers to space the seat out. And they can fold down no problem.

Focal speaker kit, DSP, amp and stealth box. KD max pro tune coming and bullnose winch.
I just did the Focal Toyo plug and play, with Stealth Box, DSP and amp. Now all that does sound much better, however, the REAL improvement was the Sound Skin in the doors! I forget which one I used, but it was the dampening, thicker material. It's so good, I really need to do the ceiling and maybe the floor, with maybe the thinner material??? The second real improvement was the digital signal processor. Amps and great speakers are nice to have, but the cab isn't that big anyway, so it's not a problem fill the space. If I could do anything else, it would be to do a better dash speaker with a Mid/Tweeter combination. I wish I could claim I put all this together, but the guys at The Sound Factory in Knoxville, TN did it for me. NO, not an Ad here....I just can't claim I did it myself and they deserve the credit.

I second the Audio Control LC6.1200. Incredibly flexible and powerful amp with a small footprint. And it looks bad ass. You also would not need a line output converter, because the LC2iPRO is basically built into it.

Audio control makes really nice amps . I have the small micro amps with one powering separates up front and rear door speakers. The other powering a JL stealth box, a new pioneer head unit . Although not super loud it sounds really clean and nice with good bass bump . I’m happy

Which head unit did you go with? Recommended/required over stock?

The Sony will be better for the speakers if going with no Amp for the kickers .
If you go with The audio control 4 channel amp like I did than do the pioneer .
ALso being you are new to this crutchfield has a wiring service . So if you order from them it can. BE plug and play also .Make sure you order the maestro or crux interface when you do it if you go pioneer .
Obviously the pioneer set up will have more kick

    Ah, good to know.
Did you also do a sub and amp for the sub, or is the HU, amp, and door speakers sufficient for good sound?
