phew! Finally bit the bullet and just put the aFe on!

Took almost exactly one hour, and as others have said about most exhausts, the hardest part was getting the old one off.

I'll say this, the tail tip is big. In fact I think I am going to get underneath again tomorrow and adjust some things around to get more clearance between the tip and the truck.....and between the turn of the tail pipe and the u-bolt plate.

I was also surprised at how easily the ceramic coating scratched. Perhaps it's my ignorance concerning ceramic coatings, but I've found powder coated paint to be much more resistant to scratches and dings. Too bad powder coating doesn't have good thermal properties like ceramic. We'll see how it holds up over time.

I only took one "before" video, the stock exhaust at start up. I was thinking about more "before" videos using my UltraGauge (UG), but getting two days with similar enough environmental conditions (to do before and after) just wasn't working out. The "after" videos I took were all inside the cab. The wind was blowing at 30mph so any video would have been muddled by wind noise. When the wind calms down, I'll get more outside vids.

The system is louder, but not too loud IMO. For the record, as long as it wasn't too loud or raspy, I didn't care what it sounded like. The tone is deep and somewhat throaty. Slight drone while accelerating but dead quiet when cruising. Coming back from the gym this morning I did notice a little more drone driving through the neighborhood at 25mph / 1300RPM.

Perhaps I need to run the system for a little while, but the butt dyno didn't show much. However, if my memory is correct, the UG showed roughly 10ftlbs of peak torque gain (middle left number on the UG). Again this is confounded somewhat, since I was not able to do the same run using similar environmental conditions and the UG is not as reliable as a dyno run. The real test for me will be the first time I tow my trailer. The dyno chart for this shows big gains around 2500, which is right where I tow in 4th gear.

A few more notes from the install. I have a DCSB and the instructions say to cut 12" off the mid pipe for the install.

I might recommend 12.5" off the mid pipe and 0.5" off the end of the tail pipe that joins to the muffler. I mentioned above, that the turn of the tailpipe, where the tip connects was very close (hitting while driving actually) the u-bolt plate. Well I took 0.5" off that section of tailpipe and now there is plenty of clearance without being to close to anything else. If you have access to a chop saw for cutting metal (as I do) you can install as instructed, then play with the dimensions as you see fit.

I found the distance between the top of tip and the bottom of the fender decreases from 3" to 1.5" but part of that is having a bigger exhaust tip.

So far so good. System seems to be working well. I will tow my trailer in a little over a week. I'll let everyone know how it does after that.

I do find myself pulling away from stop lights saying to myself, "Who's truck is tha...ohhh mine!" The sound is a nice bonus for sure.

If I'm remembering right, aFe is the exhaust proven to give best power gains? Did you feel a difference?

This was the 2.5", not the 3", so the listed gains are different. I bought 2.5" because of the listed low end gains....although they are somewhat suspect given the methodology of the dyno run.

Anyway, the butt dyno felt a little gain from a dead stop. The UG showed about a 10ftlb max gain, but that's totally suspect for number of reasons.

    At least they tell you!

I wanna say there was a Magnaflow catback that was listed as fitting the DCSB and I have read threads here that detail how that particular model does NOT fit and Magnaflow is oblivious to it.

Good luck. Most, if not all, that I looked at required cutting at the very least.

If you own a 2013+ there may be hanger issues as well, unless the manufacturer is savvy enough to have fixed it already.

I have access to a chop saw, i have my own reciprocator, air cut off tools, angle grinder. But that isn't the point, the point is to not have to use any of that.
