If you get in an accident I hope your insurance covers it or if its repairable the body shop will hate you. That stuff is a flipping mess to remove. Just a little love will make it last for years. I have a 1999 4Runner that looks showroom new still with good old fashion wax. To each his own, good luck.

Just out of curiosity, what is different about the film they use vs what comes from the factory? And what is their special technique and how does that change things? I've worked closely with an installer a long time ago when this stuff was a lot newer and am curious.

Will insurance cover any of the $6500 if you had an accident and totaled the truck or are you out all that money?

I am an ROI kind of guy for stuff like this, and I just can't see this film thing adding any real recoupable value to a Tacoma with a factory paint job? Even if it comes with a transferable warranty, no one is going to pay a premium for your used truck just because it has this film stuff on it. And everyone always says that they are going to keep their Tacoma until they die, but this is typically bullshit.

Now I might spend that kind of money protecting the glorious paint job on a new C8 Corvette. But paying $6,500 to protect the crap paint job on a seriously mass produced run of the mill Toyota pickup truck seems a bit misguided. But hey, your money, your party I guess.

That stuff will be a pain in the ass to remove in ten years if need be. I have seen it pull the clear coat right off when a clear bra was taken off a sl550. Cost more to correct it and paint it than if it was not applied.

Truck just went in for A pillars, mirrors, replacing the factory rear bed ones, front fenders, full front and full hood with Stek dynoshield (similar) and followed up with CQuartz UK 3.0 and DLUX on wheels and plastics, for $2.1k including paint correction. I could not imagine paying three times that, but ppf does work. If it was a collector car sure. I'm only PPF'ing cause I do hwy driving and my 2020 looked like ass after 45k miles of it with no PPF.

Based on those vehicles there that you own, makes sense as to why you can afford to do it, for most here a full wrap would be a waste / terrible return on investment, but if you got the disposable income why not it works.

i put PPF on my Miata

it really is nice; I do feel kinda dumb now that I traded it in on the Tacoma

it’s really expensive but it does take a lot of the worry about scratches and rock chips away

and it’s so nice when you go to wash the car

having said that, I don’t think I’m going to put it on my Tacoma but I don’t blame you for doing it, especially if you plan on keeping it a long time

Respect brother, those are some badass machines!!! I sold my white C6 just before the pandemic and do miss it from time to time. I can see me picking up a used C8 in a few years.

BTW, I can't really say anything about spending stupid money; you should see my guitar collection. :)

The factory stuff is trash / cheap it’s the older version of ppf and the new stuff is leaps and bounds ahead and will not yellow, my rear bed ones started yellowing after 3 years.

I wander how this would work on a new dash instrument cover so I would never have to worry about all the scratches again.
