Most here are quick to throw $3k+ into an instagram mall crawler lift setup they’ll never need to use and ends up destroying rocker panels or issues later with components or maybe flawless; but I would argue spending that on ppf or paint protection is the better of the two if your gonna spend the money when it comes to ROI. Come trade and resale time the protected stock truck will fetch more than the modded one.

Like anything, it will depend on your policy. I can tell you that my truck was hail damaged twice, and my insurance covered the replacement of my Xpel PPF both times. I only have it on the first 2 feet of the hood, first foot of the roof, grill, bumper, A-pillars, and rockers. Also on the door sills to protect from dog claws.

Good to know I definitely want to look into it. I’m hoping it does but I hope I won’t have to find out

I got a quote for $1700 from someone very reputable in my area to do the front end but I don’t think any of the roof is included (hood, bumper, side mirrors, sides until front door starts). No doors. Basically a full clear bra. Still think it’s worth it?

I’ve been exploring PPF for a BMW I am getting. Two quotes at admittedly higher end shops both over $10k. Makes 6.5k seem almost reasonable

I’m going to just do the front and some vulnerable areas.

That is a good deal. Did they suggest ceramic coating for the whole car? For my Miata, it cost $4k for PPF on the front and ceramic coating on the whole car

Sounds about right, I hate lines even with the new stuff, I did rocker panels and partial front on my 2019 and you could see it up close and it will be noticeable as it ages, my 2022 I am having only full panels done and paying $1500 for full front bumper, full hood, full fenders, mirros and replacing the two factory pieces on the back bed sides with good stuff (mine yellowed after 2.5 years). Also following up with CQuartz UK and DLUX on the truck which I had good luck with last truck. Last truck I skipped PPF and my front after 2.5 years was sad even leaving room behind people. All in I'm $2500 which includes the PPF, paint correction and coating on every exterior surface including wheels and trim.

Lol, I drove 5 hours to get to Valdosta for my deal, I'm way in Bham area, my buddy who has done 3 vehicles for me here Slick Obsessions gave me that discount, not sure it'd be worth the drive for you but you can hit him up, he uses STEK instead of XPEL, which from my research actually is slightly better. When I lived in AZ I had Suntek PPF done on my 2019, it was full front bumper, partial fenders, partial hood and the rocker panels where the stone guard was (planned on lifting) and that set me back $1400. I'll never do partial again, reason I'm skipping A pillars this round.

yeah i will have to hit him up! my truck is coming with the factory full hood package and mirrorbacks, but i am really mainly concerned about the front bumper and of course the rock splash area behind the wheels. i feel like the hood will be okay without it as the front bumper is what sees all the road debris and whatnot.

You'd be surprised, I had at least 6-8 chips on the edge of my hood.

yeah I’m doing full ceramic for $1200 and then $1700 for front end - he wants $450 for each door if I want to add those too … now I’m thinking rocker panels …. Not sure where to stop… maybe I’ll skip the doors and accept pinstripes

I did rocker panels on my 2019, you could see the line and I still ended up with chips just above where I did the PPF, now that was in AZ. My time in IL and AL with my 2020 I didnt see any chips to the sides of the truck but the front was definitely peppered.

Yeah … I’m not doing a full wrap so maybe I’ll just stop with the front end bra

As in full hood, fenders and front bumper? Bra would imply partial, you will regret that imho from experience.

Full PPF owner here. Yes, the bill hurts at first. But it buys you 10 years of perfect paint. Add ceramic to the PPF, and you dont have to wax it.

If you value a shiny glossy rig its a great way to keep it that way for the next decade. If you dont value this or only plan on keeping it 3-4 years then its not worth it.

Run the numbers for 10 years. $6,500 now, then sell the truck i. perfect shape. What will that add to the sales price, $1000? $3000? Your out only $300-$500 per year.

I have had several vehicles repainted over the last 30 years. Big PITA and expense. A high quality repaint is $8k to $15k depending on materials used, your location and market, and an immediate devaluation to your rig for it not being original.

Again, not for everyone, but not insane if you value a nice lookinf shiny rig and plan to own 5+ years.

Bra is misleading - total and complete coverage in front of the doors - so full bumper, hood, fenders, rear mirrors — I’m now contemplating adding the front two doors for $900 extra
