Yup - ceramic for the non-bra part. Aside from the comment about PPF ripping off the clear coat (never heard of that happening), I think it’s a wise investment especially if you’re just doing that front.

Let me know how the door dings and deep scratches work out with the wrap.

Paintless dent removal for door dings & replace the section that got a deep scratch. It’s not invincible but it does protect the paint. “Paint protection film” not dent resistant film. My warranty covers tears in the film so it would be replaced for no cost to me.

Actually not today. Would be hard to find someone to do a repaint at all (unless a complete insurance job), let alone for under $12k. Maybe $7-8k if you don't do full disassembly and do not take the glass out or unbolt the bed and move it back.

Even with a first class job with high quality materials (auto paint comes in several quality grades across multiple manufacturers), it still will not be as good as original and will devalue it.

On top of that your truck will be in paint jail for at least a month or two or perhaps even longer.

Maybe once you get to $15k you can have a full on custom job with all the glass out and extra clear and then all of the orange peel buffed out.

Agree. Also, nothing wrong or dumb about OP getting a full wrap. Not everyone sees the value but he does. Not much more to it.

Aggree on the ROI if we look purely at the numbers. Best ROI is probably to buy an SR5 or Pro, and not spend 1 cent on anything for it that didnt come from the factory. A good cosmoline job when new, and maintenence receipts showing the minimum required work done would likely maximize the ROI. Wash it every two weeks and turtle wax twice a year. Maybe a couple of cans of scotchguard off the showroom floor.

A universally accepted color like MGM may be the best bet.

But who are we? Just a bunch of idiots blowing money on mass produced trucks on an aging platform.

I like it. Not for me as I don't keep rigs long enough. But I think I would go for it if I was gonna keep for the long haul. Nice job O.P

Exactly why I have a deposit on a Pro, which will be kept stock, undercoated, and maintained for 2-4 years before I trade it on what I really want.

Yes, these has been accurate from my experience for a high quality paint job. PPF is a fraction and you keep the original paint in pristine condition. Considering this for my 22' TRD Pro.

I have a Lightning reserved, though I'm starting to think it might not be for me at this point in time. What I really want is a Ranger or Tacoma EV or PHEV. My wife has a PHEV Audi and I've fallen in love with it. For how I use a truck, EV is the way to go. My 2010 Tacoma is fine, but I don't want to go another few years without a warranty, and with a family that has grown can make use of the double cab (have an AC now). So I'm looking at this as a holdover, and my top priority is resale.

Smart move for the ROI! You will probably do fine if you dont crash it.

Re: the PPF-and point of this thread..it probably wont help you. Maybe just PPF on the hood lol and/or a Ceramic coating. Bed mat. You probably wont even get your money back on a tailgate lock, wheel locks, or bed light kit. Save all the paperwork and window sticker.

You could probably put Clazzios on it, takr them off at sale time and sell them used here on TW for 50% of what you paid, and get a premium for unworn seats. If you wanted to really watch the money you could put them on the front only since thats where lost of the wear is.

Im still thinking MGM appeals to the largest audience. Someone looking for Black, White, or Silver will take it. And the dude's GF will appreciate the neutral color.

2-4 years from now an unmodified Pro in tip top shape should hold its value.

Yes, I'm a big fan of the PPF and will probably do at least the hood.

I'm open to any color really- I figure someone looking for a used pro will either be super picky- in which case I have 25% chance of getting it right, or they'll take any clean example.

I'd also take a unicorn- TRD OR, Premium (loaded) long bed in Lunar rock. I almost think that might be harder to come by than a Pro... and I gotta believe the Pro will have better resale anyway.

This made me think of that episode of Rob & Big when they "murder out" (ICYMI flat black EVERYTHING) the Tahoe. I'd love to see somebody do a murdered out Tacoma.
