I'm pretty upset. I've done many oil changes in the past, and never let a drop land on my concrete driveway. Switched to the fumoto yesterday and I got spots everywhere. I've tried tightening it twice now, and still it drips. I'm afraid of over tightening it and causing damage to my oil pan.

Can someone tell me what my next step would be, and is it possible to remove the oil stains from my concrete drive?

Did you reuse the drain plug gasket? That does not look like the gasket that comes with the valve. I've had mine installed for almost a year now no leaks and have done plenty of oil changes.

    Thanks.

Yes I removed the old gasket and used the one that came in the bag with the fumoto valve.

That looks like a rubber oring that got squeezed out. Mine has a blue consaco type paper gasket. Zero leaks.

It is not a rubber gasket. It is the bluish paper one that came with it. I have rubber gaskets in each of my Toyota oil filter boxes, and it was not like them.

I'll have to back it out and try again I guess.

Oh, okay. That's probably the machined counterbore on the pan I'm looking at then.

I wouldn't suggest to him to start using drugs just because of oil stains on his driveway.

We use Muriatic Acid to remove oil stains from concrete paver driveways during construction, be careful and wear eye protection and gloves, and a respirator is always recommended. Also, have a hose handy and stand upwind. Do NOT use acid on your garage floor, it will eat the glaze off the concrete and fubar the floor.

You can also try Tide, TSP, Acetone, all are recommended to help remove stains.

Use plain old fashioned Tide washing soap, not the liquid the powder. Wet down the driveway toss on the powder and let it sit for about 30 min. than scrub. Rinse and let dry, maybe do it twice

I've used Superclean multiple times to clean up oil stains on my driveway with great results.

Brake cleaner does the best work. Spray and dab up all liquid before it dries. Don't use on glazed concrete.

Another Fumoto user here, no leaks for me for several years. Plenty of comments above to remove oil...

No help with removing stains on drive. I could use impute on that (contractors vehicles).

I had one of the Fumoto on my Jeep for 5 years and no leaks.

Got one ready to go on my 2014 Tacoma soon.

Just wanted to follow up. Thanks for the replies. I decided to try and tighten one more time and was able to easily get another 1/4 turn. Some of you speak of psi on an oil plug, but if you look at the shape of the fumoto, I don't see how you can get an air compressed ratchet around it. I just crescent wrench it. Either way this third quarter turn tightening seems to have done the trick and I don't see any more drippage. Frown turned upside down and + 1 for fumoto for me so far. I have some powdered tide detergent and will report back on the driveway stains.

    Ty

Awesome. Glad you got the leak stopped
But nobody said anything about PSI. There was a torque value mentioned, but yeah, still cant get a socket on it. You can however get a feel for how much 29 ft lbs of torque is if you use your torque wrench enough. you can also put a crow foot on a torque wrench, but that will make it longer and then you would need to calculate how much to reduce the torque setting on the wrench. Main thing is that it stopped leaking :D
