As has been said, the long nipple remains tucked under the TRD skid.

I can post a pic too.

So apparently, you haven’t ever been underneath an off-road model Tacoma. The so-called skid plate is nothing but a sheet metal splash pan, two actually.

you can quote all the spec sheets and pamphlets you like, but you were still sorely mistaken. There is no skid plate underneath an off-road model. Only the Trd pro gets an actual aluminum skid plate. The rest are just either one or two sheet metal splash pans

Fully aware of what it is. Just because it's shit doesn't change anything.

If a new member with a TRD off road hops on and asks how to remove his skid plate, are you going to tell him he's never been under his truck because you don't like the quality of his skid plate?

The TRD Sport only comes with ONE thin metal splash guard...and of course that wonderful Air Dam. lol

Took both of them off to install my TRD Pro Skid.

Here's the photo of long nipple Fumoto...yes, I cleaned up the oil spill from taking the oil pan bolt off. lol

I think the air-dam weighs more than the splash guard ...

Use some common sense. I can see by the 4K plus postings that you’re not a new guy. And you should know that somebody’s going to correct you if you put out a bunch of bull crap.

Yea the SR, SR5, Sport and Limited come with the front splash guard, the OR comes with the 2 piece pos. TRD pro comes with the aluminum TRD skid.

Exactly. Those splash guards have never been considered skid plates. Wether on OR or otherwise...going back to the 2nd generation, too.

    All just semantics tho

The parts breakdown actually lists them as splash shields…..I thought they were listed as pans

Yeah ... parts 18 and 22 would be crushed running over a tall speed-bump.:facepalm::notsure:

I have Fumoto’s on every vehicle I own couldn’t even imagine doing an oil change without one. I also purchased the 133n x2 for my trucks be aware the 133 is the replacement (heavy duty, ) of the old 103. It’s a heavier duty thicker valve. You will not be able to find a short nipple variety as they are currently unavailable on every market. The only one that says is available is an aftermarket Fake Fumoto. Enjoy your oil change from here on out.
WARNING if you take it to somebody to get a quick oil change and forget to tell them about that valve they will use a wrench and disassemble it and your ball&Cock and spring will shoot out across the floor and you’ll be buying a new standard plug from a local parts store just to drive home that day - don’t ask me how I know that

I keep my original oil pan bolt (& crush washer) tucked away under the driver's side back seat cubby.

As a matter of fact, I still have my OEM gas cap with tether as well as my OEM shifter handle...and my locking lug key + other knick-knacks in there.

I'll add my OEM filter housing for a "just-in-case" but I don't believe I'll need it.

Already purchased a long nipple Fumoto, as it's definitely the one I would prefer, easier to get the cap on, as well as the drain hose.
As long as it tucks under my TRD skid, that was my only concern.

TRD Pro skid, gray, with the oil filter door, yes. Standard flimsy splash guard you need to remove to change oil ... probably, but why not replace it with TRD Pro skid?

    Stock for now but soon
I'm curious on getting one of these valves, and I have the same skid plate. I was wondering how do you turn the valve on? Would it be through that small hole? Do you get oil on your hands when closing the valve through there as well?

Here's pic I took with plastic FUMOTO cover and rubber cap.

Once you remove Fumoto cover, there's a lever that you turn to open/close the valve.

Wipe the nipple clean after closing and reinsert the cap...no oil spills out when valve closed.

I've done several oil changes and the cover & cap have not fallen off.
