    Not necessary. It is called a sealing washer. I am in the seal business, and I just happened to have one sitting on my desk that was the correct size, and also the correct material to handle the oil and temp extremes...I just thought I'd put it to use.

    I ordered one after reading about it here. I have never paid someone to change the oil in any of my vehicles. I HAVE however dropped the drain plug into a bucket of oil more than once, burned my hand on hot oil more than once and made a mess on my garage floor more than once. If this valve can prevent any/all of that from happening than I'm all for it.

    As I posted a year ago, my dealership charges only $13 to change my oil. The filters are $5, 5.5 quarts of oil is $27, for a total of $32. I just cant do an oil change for nearly as cheap as my dealership. In 6 years the oil changes have never been too much or too little oil and has never left the filter or drain plug loose. If I was going to do the oil myself this would be a great product but...
