Shit I found on CL or EBAY that I could screw on.
I was re-installing my seat covers and I pulled the bolts for the front seats. I was re-installing and I happened to look down the hole of the passenger rear left bolt hole and I saw pavement. The pic is terrible.

Daylight was fading and I didn't feel like climbing under, but is this a drain or am I missing a plug down there? None of the other bolt holes were like this.

That’s how 99% of the floor bolts are. Not just the seats.

Yes that is normal. You can see some of the bolts from under the truck. I think one of the fronts is direct through (you can see it from below). I think the other front bolt goes into like a sandwiched layer (for lack of a better term). Aka you may not be able to see the other one from below.

Edit: toss a bit of never seize on them before you reinstall

The floor has a reinforcement rib below the front seat rear mount bolts. The rib has drain holes. One of the drain holes happens to line up with that particular bolt so you have direct line-of-sight with the ground. But none of the other seat bolt holes are sealed or capped. Shoot the threads with some Fluid Film or Cosmoline before installing.

I guess it makes an improvised floor drain if you ever flood the passenger footwell in a water crossing!

    Thanks for confirmation y'all!
I am not worried about it. It was just weird that 1 out of 8 I could see right through.
I am sure if I had the time or the drive to look underneath, it would have made more sense.:pccoffee:

At least I had the drive to vacuum under the seat for what I believe will the very last time.

To be fair, you can install seat covers without unbolting the seats. That's how I did mine. :notsure:

I had put them in once like that, and it wasn't the greatest fit. So I went back under and was able to really get them nice and tight.
Plus I got to try out a new electric impact to zip them out.

You could leave that bolt out and it makes a great spot to wire in accessories or run an antenna! Too easy!

This is by design on pretty much all vehicles. The seat bolts through multiple layers of the body construction so the sheet metal doesn’t shear in an accident. It makes the mounting point more rigid. Usually the rears in most vehicles are enclosed, but the fronts usually thread all the way through.

I saw this too, as I had my passenger seat out for an air compressor installation. Worst part, in my case was I started to cross thread that bolt upon reinstallation. But it’s all cleared up now and I can’t see the ground. But there is a plug, closer to the outside, right there for wires.
