Lol that's not grinding, that's just meshing.

Agreed. Sounds like the shift thingy sliding over the gear thingy.

Ok. It’s never made it before. Seems destructive to me.

You gotta remember what is happening when you shift into low, which is meshing gears together. Sometimes they grind a bit before the teeth fall into place. Sometimes it's perfect. Sometimes you grind. Nature of the beast.

Ok. I’m gonna take your word for it. I don’t wanna have a hissy for no reason. That’s why I asked. Thanks for everyone’s reply.

A millionaires idea would be if you could design a system that drops into 4 low with making a single sound ever. Whisper quiet each and every time from the actuator to the gears engaging. You’d be making it rain daily with cash. Lol. Seriously though, I wouldn’t sweat it, sounds normal. Take care.

I have no noise going into 4low ...4 high I would take it to the dealer to check everything if the noise continues.

Sometimes I get noises like OP, sometimes silent shift. Depends on if there is any driveline load/bind at time of shifting 4H to 4L. Something as simple as a slight turn before shifting can load up driveline and cause the noisy shift. Sounds completely normal to me. Sometimes I need to roll a little in neutral to unload driveline to get a smooth shift. Previous 4x4 (GMC) was the same.
