Yeah called today around lunch. Said they still have no idea what's going on and they will still be digging into it. Really I have mixed feelings at this point. Trying to decide on what they next step should be

Keep driving the camry, it's only been a week. Some recalls on trucks have kept them from owners for months when they knew what was wrong and were waiting on parts. Not really good news but the trucks were fixed and back on the road eventually.

If you need a truck now take the camry back and upgrade to a truck while you wait.

I feel your pain. I've been driving their new camry and carolla's now on and off for about 2 months. Most recently there's an issue with the rear end. Drove the camry for over a week...had the truck back for 30 minutes before i had to bring it back and get another camry. Long story short, toyota is helping them diagnose my issue. I'm sure they've got them involved with yours.
My truck has a service record as long as John Gotti's rap sheet! I'll be talking about extended warranties when all is said an done.

Agreed. Just bought a 2018 XLE Hybrid for the Mrs with all of the toys. This is a great car! She loves it and doesn't miss her Kia CUV at all.

    Now back to topic...

I would bet money on it being a weak connection inside the front add actuator or the actuator on the transfer case.. Plenty of people have this issue if you search in the 2nd gen section. Order of operation is: flip switch on dash to 4wd. 4wd ecm sends power to transfer case actuator. After that engages- signal back to 4wd ecm to inform "job done". 4wd ecm sends signal to front diff actuator to activate. Front diff engages and sends "job done" signal back to 4wd ecm. If any steps fail here- light will flash on dash and lock out further signal input.

Yeah I know its only been a week but I don't enjoy after a week being told they have no idea whats going on. To their credit I do have something to drive. The Camry is bad at all but may look into if I have other options for space reasons. Are you going to keep your truck regardless?

My truck was in for 38 days on the diff recall awaiting parts. Just take a deep breath and relax.

What would I do without you? Thank you for the emotional support

For the record I do understand it takes time and I hate you had to wait that long. It all will work out soon, just was getting feedback. See how positive you're making me? Haha

    Any more issue since?

It's not leaking, but the hard shift from 2nd to 1st is back and the acceleration lag is back plus a couple other drive train quirks. But it don't leak.

Yea, if I can get a good deal on an extended warranty, I think I'll keep the truck...it's got a lot of new parts now lol. I'm sure they don't want to try to resell it given it's lenghty service record.

I hear you, it's very frustrating hearing they don't know what's wrong. It's even worse when they thought they fixed it, but that's what warranty's are for and we're not paying for the rentals...as much as they kinda suck! The more I drive the Camry, the more i hate it lol. Though I had a Camry hybrid one of the last times, that was pretty awesome!

Good luck with your truck! Please keep us posted.

    ...stuff
My old truck was at the dealer for over 2 months with a problem (non-Toyota). I bet they know what the problem part is, but not what is causing it. I had a rear locking differential problem, and the dealer knew it was the Locker, but couldn’t figure out why it was having the problem. 2 months of checking computer, sensors, wiring harnesses and everything else they could think of. Finally, they got so frustrated they ripped apart a brand new truck off the lot and rebuilt my rear end with the new trucks axle. Problem solved. They ordered a new axle from the factory, and I was on the road again.

They Will fix it, so chillax.

There were lots of people without trucks during the diff recall for weeks if not months awaiting the parts. If you search people literraly couldnt even get there trucks back due to it being a safety issue and had to wait. It was ridiculous.

WOW! I'm glad to hear they fixed yours. What symptoms did you experience that made you bring it in? I already have a new right rear axle, new housing, new diff, bearings, etc. They've tried another drive shaft and that still didn't fix the issue.

I'm sure eventually they'll fix it.

    UPDATE:

So I called yesterday and the truck wasn't ready.. Got a call today that they replaced the actuator and the truck would now go into 4wd. BUTTTTTTT now it won't come out of 4wd..... I was asked odd questions like is your truck a true TRD? Did you put the TRD package on? So they are somewhat back at a start point. So there's that

    Sorry to hear that.
Almost certainly a bad connection to one of the actuators I would bet. (probably to one of the position feedback wipers). After computer figures out that something doesnt make sense... no more mode changes.
