OMG. This thread is full of misinformation. I am almost ashamed to be a part of this group. The scoop is functional and was designed this way by Toyota.

Its sole design and purpose is for us Sport owners to install a Knight Rider light.

    Panties are gonna drop.

    Well done Toyota. Well done.

Mainly filling the engine bay with extra road grime, water, and dust and adding another weird whistling noise to the truck.

Wait its not functional? So you telling me that solid hunk of plastic doesn't get air into the quad turbo, krypton injected jet engine controlled by the neuro net CPU linked to quantum supercomputers that control the precision 6 speed automatic transmission?

If that's the case guess I'm just a TRD bro.

Even if it were "functional" you'd have to be going well over over 200 mph for it to do anything--read more here: the Ram Air Myth

So, lemme get this straight ! The sport and offroad are virtually the same in price but the sport has a non functional plastic hood scoop sport wheels and different bumper, instead of rear locker and crawl control !
:) I will very quietly laugh out loud to my self !

Its simple to make this a functional scoop !!

You just need to know how to fab up a sheet metal cold air pan/box that seals to the underside of the hood using fireproof foam

Think something like a Ford Boss 302/428 style or shaker hood from a Dodge Challenger or Plymouth Cuda

From this air pan /box you run a CAI tube either to a modified factory air box or directly to the throttle body . Like I mentioned this is stupid simple if you've got metal fabrication skills its a no brainer

Also this style air box using a hood scoop you're getting cold ambient air to the motor !!
