Funky electronics, brakes and lights?

Hey Tacoma world, hopefully someone has had something similar to this happen.

If my headlights are off and I hit my brakes, my driving lights come on with each push of the brake pedal (the lights that come on with the first click of the headlight switch, I think they are called driving lights). If I turn my headlights on it doesn’t seem to flash the lights, only when my headlight switch is off my driving lights come on every time I hit the brakes.... any ideas?

 

Do you have towing elect connection?

 

Yes I do it’s been there’s since I got it

 

The control box for tow package lights don't last forever and cause strange light issues eventually

 

Hmmmm I will check that out thanks.
Should I just disconnect it and see if it fixes the problem you think?

 

Worth a try. Won't hurt anything.

 

Remove that harness. It’s easy to do and your problem will disappear.

 

Of it is not that box, then the second common reason for this behavior is broken ground contact between the tail lamp and the battery. It could be as simple thing as rusted lamp socket or corroded grounding wire or grounding point.

 

Awesome, I did get rear ended a couple of months ago, so that could have jacked up the ground, or the trailer light box ill check all that out
