You will have to excuse the ignorance of us sport owners. We have no experience in the Locker usage.

Yeah I definitely slipped the clutch, but just a bit, shouldn’t have produced this smell, I would think anyways.

Well maybe its time to upgrade the clutch! It’d be worth it to never smell this again! Its still in my nose.

    F - that. Locker + Snow = fucking fantastic.

Guaranteed smell was clutch. Probably slipped it trying to ease out without spinning wheels.

Truck got stuck cause your running BFG all terrains. MT's of any brand run way better in the snow.

Even if you upgrade it you may still get the smell as clutch feel will be different. May take a bit to get used to it. Eventually the clutch will wear-in and shouldn't happen very often unless your really easing into something.

Im probably too easy on her actually. Its my first tacoma, i want to keep her till im too old to drive and then pass her down. Dealer folks told me to be harder on her since i was complaining about the gap of power that happens right before direct injection kicks in, but damn it i like getting over 20 mpgs. I dont want to beat on her, fix the “blip”! The tsb actually helped.

Is that so?! Well locker then next time! Hmm & different tires eh?

Yeah, slipped clutch precisely trying not to spin.

So whats the better method?? As in how do i modulate the clutch? Is it as simple as engage locker and go? God that be too easy...

The Falken AT3’s work better than the BFG AT’s in the snow too. Never been stuck once

Yeah in my last taco i was going up 19-22° incline switchbacks with 16" of snow over ice. The going was pretty shit until i remembered i had a locker. Then it was fine. I also had chains on all four tires. But hell. Aint no tire im aware of that climb a sheet of ice without cables or chains.

As far as modulating the clutch goes, you're gonna burn it sometimes trying to ease out if your stuck. There's no good way around it that I'm aware of. I would just always try starting out in 4Lo if your in deep snow. Otherwise the tires will just spin from the friction loss when the clutch grabs, that will compact the snow and then you have compacted snow under your tires. Its the shit.

In my 17' taco i got stuck in 6" of snow on gravel with my stock tire like a week after i got the truck. Pulled it out with my other taco that had cooper stt pros on it. Then i put cooper STT pros on the 17' and never had a problem again.

Also theres some exhaust pressure thing that assists with the clutch or some damn thing. There's a "delete mod" that some guy on here sells. That might help.
