6" rail and iron sights only, are all you need. Assuming your eyes are not bad, you should be able to hit things at 200 yards all day. Also don't be afraid , you are in the desert , pop that 30rd mag in and a normal mag release button in that rifle, the way god intended it to be. By the time you see that BLM agent rolling up to the range just toss the mag and button into the sand like some unwanted dumpersert baby.

It's similar to the truck. Either make it a woop eater with a roll cage and 5 point seat harness so you can actually enjoy going fast....or overland build with all the dope ass gear. you know? either or. optics , bipod? Yeah do that to some bolt action rem700 or so. That way when you hit your plate, far, far away, you can actually hit it, in some meaningful way.
