Anyone have a funny story about over-analyzing stuff on their truck? Recently lifted mine and was bugging about needle bearing vibrations, changed the song and realized it was just the bass from the door speakers...

I haven't even got the truck, and it already has many problems and issues from just reading TW.

This forum made me love Tacoma's, and also made me so afraid to get one. Heard terrible things about 2nd gens when I went from 1st to 2nd, and loved it. Heard terrible things about 3rd gens when I went from 2nd to 3rd, and love it.

I started out trying to decide between a Bestop and a canopy, so I got a rollup tonneau to get some dry storage and to tide me over. Wedge campers became a thing and were almost affordable in the pre-order days. I got excited, and each time I got close, a price jump would happen. The wedge camper set the side access hook though. So, I priced out a canopy with side windows. That almost made the wedge campers look affordable again, but a canopy was just not worth it due to weight and storage. So after two years of bouncing around, I ended up with a Softopper and am damn happy.

    Replacement bed net.

I bought a TacoNets one last year that is great in function but not very durable. I have been trying to find a more durable duplicate for months.

I've noticed this is an issue with the availability of online reviews and forums. Everytime I want to buy something, I go online to read reviews and do research, and I'm invariably hamstrung by negative reviews for everything. I go back and forth between every option weighing the cons of each, until I realize I've backed myself into a corner, and am paralyzed by analysis. Then I just go with my gut, and usually end up pretty happy, since I'm not one of those people to focus on the negatives.

Remember that most of the complaining you read on forums is that one owner out of every 10,000 that has an issue. Take most of what you hear with a very minuscule grain of salt.

Spent 2 years debating AC base model or DCTRD OR 4x4. Had so many excel sheets... Finally said F it and got the expensive one.

I still debate this and may trade the TRD in once it will be an even swap years from now for a base model.

Oh no doubt, I don't take anything I read on the internets seriously. I can't wait to get my OR AC MT.
and hear a clutch pedal noise
or have no compression in cylinder #5
    or have my paint peeling
    or have a defective transmission
    fuck.

Only aesthetic mods so far Leer 180 cap & Clazzio covers on order.
In general, people are quick to bitch in writing (perhaps hoping it'll help get resolution) and slow to praise in writing. Ponder carefully exactly what folks are complaining about before you get discouraged - it may not be something that you're going to experience. I felt the same way after ordering my 2020 Taco TRD OR AC (which ultimately became a 2021) and then spending way too much time here on TW. Now it's too late and I can't wait to get it in the driveway! I'm not worried about anything at this point.

Check out the Alucab canopy. I had my mind pretty set on it, but went and got quoted for fiberglass ones that were comparable just to be sure. Was quoted $3500 from Leer and $4100 from ARE. Both had 9-12 week waiting periods. Mule had the Alucab canopy in stock for $3200 and it holds lightyears more weight.

Thanks, but I couldn't be happier. Both the dry storage and easy off have come in handy for me. I should have just gone the ST route from the start.

I had a crazy idea that the fam might join in with a wedge camper, but that was just me lying to myself. Camping out of the ST solo is perfect.
