The Google says nothing about this, and the Google is all-powerful.

How has this been hidden from the Google?

Nothing says “business as usual” like a lockdown and investigation for a static display that was brought in on a work order for touch up because the CO said looked a little dingy.

What an amazing story and way to honor his courage! Kinda love that this is how they break with the tradition.

I read a write-up when I was in the SNCO Academy many years ago about two types of courage - physical and institutional - and how Dorie Miller was an example of both. Fire was raining down around him while he manned the gun, and his actions spurred on others around him to action. Without regard to his physical safety he did what he felt was the right thing to do for for his shipmates. He was also bound and ingrained in an institutional society where his actions were "wrong," even though he was fighting to save shipmates who considered themselves above him by race. Institutional courage is harder to show and hang on to because of how behavior is affected by those societal expectations. Anyway, it was long and drawn out and in the end (successfully) argued that his actions were more difficult for him than they would have been for someone with a "different societal expectation," making the impact for his having performed them even more special.

I disagree. Mine was pretty out of control when I retired (MEB) and I think the VA and other agencies resort to drugs too often. The problem with PTSD is, at least in my experience, you can’t move forward until you acknowledge those issues and confront them. It SUCKS at first but things get better after. Do things still get to you at times, like wondering why the fuck you’re scanning rooftops at night down town one night but not others? Of course. Are you “off” for a few days after watching a war movie, yet drawn to still do it? Yup... plenty of other things. BUT, you also learn to confront and manage your issues. Just taking drugs doesn’t help with that. They could probably supplement BUT most doctors and patients seem to skip that part and JUST use the drugs.

According to the interview (former soldier), the MDMA allows the individual to work through their experience in a controlled environment while on the drug. His story was very compelling and it makes sense. :notsure:

I meant more how it’s used in actual practice. If VA doctors did things how they do in trials, I would be all for it, but we all know how it will play out in actual practice.
