    Agree, still always comes down to paperwork though. Always had about 5-12 dumbasses in the rotation for chapter as a 1SG. One of the first questions JAG will ask is for records of when inspections were done if that’s one of the patterns or reasons for a chapter... ask me how I know.

    My dad was giving my driving lessons in a hospital parking lot back in May 2006 when I was 17; We had been living in Pennsylvania for almost a year, but since my dad was active duty military, our vehicles with the exception of his 2003 Honda S2000 were all registered in Virginia. My dad had a Pennsylvania license by that point; He was giving me driving lessons in his 1996 Nissan Pathfinder SE, which like I said was registered in Virginia...

    Hospital security got suspicious of a couple guys in an SUV with out-of-state plates circling the parking lot for like an hour, and called the cops; We got pulled over just as I turned out of the hospital parking lot and were absolutely dumbfounded at first...

    The cop proceeded to tell us what had happened, but before letting us go he started to lecture my dad about registering his vehicle in Pennsylvania; He failed to notice all of the clues that my dad was in the Navy (DoD sticker, NAVAL AVIATION license plate frame, numerous squadron stickers on back window), and my dad got rather annoyed, pulled out his military ID, and said that since he was active duty he was well within his right to have his vehicle registered out of state...

    The cop let us go without incident, but my dad registered the Pathfinder, my mom's minivan, and his Harley in Pennsylvania within a month of us getting pulled over so we wouldn't attract unwanted attention...

    It can be as simple as noticing the guy’s tires are bald and having the commander restrict him from driving the vehicle until he replaces the tires. At some units there are mandatory inspections before going on long weekends or traveling on leave.

    No, my claimed state of residence is WA. No other state. What it comes down to is do I pay state income tax to the state I’m living in or to the state I claim residency? I pay state tax to the state I claim residency and that state is WA which doesn’t charge income tax.

    No technically anything about it.

    No- just for current registration and all that type stuff. The gate guards can search but I’m sure they have certain requirements. Vehicle inspections for contraband and things like that are a WHOLE other issue. Even if it’s in the unit parking lot, it would be an illegal search. When I did my health and welfare inspections in the barracks, I’d have to coordinate drug dogs with the MPs. If they hit on a car, the MPs could search. Again... ask me how I know. Even soldiers and cars on post have rights.

    I have a WA drivers license, my residency is WA. My 4R is registered in VA and insured in CA but it will continue to be that way until I choose otherwise. My bike is registered in CA and insured in CA until I love out of CA and can register it elsewhere.
