    Dude, I had a horrible time not laughing at the TIs whenever they tried to make fun of me. I watched what happened to my predecessor as dorm chief when he laughed, and I didn't want the same thing to happen to me.

    I got my revenge, though. I was put on the spot about what the largest aircraft in the world was. They were expecting me to say "C-5 Galaxy" but I answered "An-224." They lost their shit and were screaming at me in front of the DFAC (I was often asked USAF trivia questions when I checked us in for chow). I was right, but I thought I was dead. The question was changed to "what's the largest aircraft in the FREE world?" to which I answered "747-400 Cargo, but the C-5 can haul more weight."

    I was told to fuck off, and they made me sit in a little table in the corner. I spent the whole time trying not to crack a smile because I knew I would be destroyed if I did.

    My father who did drill duty for awhile sent me all kinds of smoke sessions. Boxes with super soft toilet tissue, bourbon, cigars, you name it. I knew he’d fuck with me but he went “arclight” on my ass. Upside down flag stamps, and on and on every week.

    Only thing I had going for me was that one of my instructors had my father as his drill. Legit smoked me in their office while they smoked the cigars and drank the hooch and told me how much of a mean prick he was to all the recruits but by the last couple weeks everyone loved him. Sweating my balls off listening to those stories was and still is my favorite part of basic.
