    It's usually to reset the bay. a lot of trainees haven't worked on a real team before.

    you wreck the place to get them to understand their collective shit needs to be together or there are consequences.

    cleaning up a wrecked bay is better than having to deal with respiratory infections or worse sweeping through the living areas.

    I had a soldier lose his rifle in the field so we dummy corded it to him. A couple hours later he somehow lost it again. After that he carried a stick that had three dummy cords tied to him at various spots so he couldn't lose it.
