it is, even in TRADOC units.

and if you have good leadership you'll never do a spend-ex. or fire on auto unless you're training for auto

Only thing full automatic does is empty your magazines too fast. Gotta be smart about your targets. Preserve your ammo

automatic fire is for gaining fire superiority. typically while reacting to contact, a near ambush, or breaking contact.

    it's far from useless.

Iraq and Afghanistan was the major turning point for spend-ex’s. Prior to, there were always lazy NCOs that did them. Min qual and leave the range. I learned a lot in the early years about how not to be once I moved up.

Unfortunately they do. Not all Army units enforce 600-9 either.

i mean him, specifically. that one. that guy. the fat one. the one stretching all the fabric. the expander of elastic material. the huge fuck. the dude making everyone else look skinny. the grease container. eater of crisco and destroyer of calories. the one with the harpoon in his ass. him.

by all means, let the meme live on. it's glorious

If they fail. But also it was an HHC so staff officers don’t typically get removed for it.

But completely agree. No idea how I had so many fat PSGs and 1SGs moving up through the ranks.

I can count the times I wanted full auto I'm actual combat on one hand. The Army can't be saving money when they replaced brand new M4s that we had just been issued a few months prior with more brand new M4A1s. Not to mention the originally replaced older M4s were still perfectly serviceable.

But it makes the support guys feel more badass. They can’t lift a 249 during SRM because it gets heavy and how else do you make them scary to the enemy. It helps counter the elbow pads they wear.

the reasoning behind was something along the lines of: support units get attached to combat elements. when they're attached, they meet contact

there are multiple occasions where attached support elements needed additional lethality. mostly by virtue of their new geography
