There’s a big difference between accurately firing a 20lb+ full auto machine gun, especially off a bipod, compared to a 8lb carbine.

Well if we want to be specific...

    ~ 18 lbs for the 249B
    ~ 22.3 lbs for the 240B

No one uses M60s anymore old man!

*I do miss it though, old enough to have used both and the 60 was easier to fire both blank and live rounds consistently. Although the 240 is a bad bitch.

Yeah, A full auto Bren Gun is really accurate... just got to have bit of arse so it doesn’t drag you forward. I would be more than fine now, but back then, I was just a hair lighter....:rofl:

I still cringe when I hear people brag up the 88 over the SLR.

The SLR in my opinion is a nice shooting and pretty accurate weapon, however they are not light and 7.62 is not light either on a full pack 10 miles BFT forced march... I would’ve much preferred to carry my Sten Gun for those fitness things than anything else!!!

Nice. I almost failed my Bren Gun test because I am a cack-hander when it comes to long arms. Trying to shoot one of those with the sights down the ‘wrong’ side created a challenge, but got my final grouping. After that I was made to always shoot it from the ‘normies’ side...
I think back and laugh about that and how under duress and pressure I just couldn’t see the correct way to mount up behind that thing.
    Some things cannot be fixed...

I always enjoyed the various forms of breaching. Something about running around with explosives to blow wire and mine obstacles or walls and doors.
