When I was a lowly E-4 I went in to a dealership to "look" at trucks...Had little credit built up...they ran my credit and said I was approved, for a monthly truck payment of $475 and asked if I was ready to sign papers, I told the guy no I wasnt even looking to go that far and was way out of my price range. I thought the guy was going to have a heart attack! he got all red in the face and was saying I committed to an agreement etc...Im like WTH! I basically just ended up walking out. $475 was not even including insurance. I also had rent, gas, and food I would have to pay. If I remember right that price was over 2/3 my pay they wanted to gank me for. I said what do you want me to live in my truck???

Shit I wish I could have avoided PT. My 1st Sgt loved to come in with a hangover and run us until he felt better. He was a great guy.

Not sure where the CASEVAC vs MEDEVAC came from but I always called for MEDEVAC while conducting CASEVAC, if birds were sent a simple change to the grid location was easily done.

 

lol only takes a few times to learn. I had issues with PSGs handling things that could wait for Monday... predecessor micromanaged.

Agreed, We were alway's told that the only thing that could not wait until Monday was a in the Barracks.

 

lol right. Of course there may have been times, as a joe, that we put concertina in the tanker barracks hallways and pulled the fire alarms and night...

At one post we had so many businesses that were off limits.

1. A strip club that had HIV positive strippers
2. A camera store that had a “free camera” but you are contracted to pay through the nose for film and prints.
3. The jewelry store that only pitched engagement and wedding rings to dumbasses that couldn’t handle barracks life.
4. Any Dodge, Chrysler, or Plymouth store with their 38% interest rates for E-1s.

I made one of mine use the buyers remorse law and return a $45k car that he bought at 38% on E-2 pay. Followed him up there and tore into them for trying to fuck over an honest kid. Spent a half hour listening to them tell him he couldn’t return it. Asked to borrow a phone and called the states attorneys office in that county to file a complaint, and right about them they remembered that there was a way he could return it. Go figure.

Have never seen a Dodge store near a military base that didn’t use predatory practices on gullible joes.

 

How about any dealership ever that’s within 2 miles of post.

 

I dont even remember the interest rate but I know it was really high. Luckily I didnt get snared into signing for that Fat POS who is just trying to force a sale.

Also thats pretty F'd up. basically anyone under E4 has either little to no credit and about the same amount of money.

 

Btw- I find this personally offensive. Not by you but that 1SG. I retired because I got sick of arguing with the BN CDR and CSM about dumb shit that negatively effected the joes.

No worries, that guy was dick and everybody hated him. The only upside was when it would happen during the week, because we all knew he wasn't making it to morning formation. So we would just go to the gym for pt.
