    usually ended up that way...I had one dumbass threaten my life after I gave him an ass chewing about his hair, boots, uniform, conduct etc. Funny thing was it was at a party that I wasnt invited to...but a friend of mine basically said you betting be serious about killing him because he carries concealed weapon off base and usually has other guns in his truck to include AR/Ak/shotgun...I guess the guy's eyes got real big and he kind of got pale...next week i see he shined his boots, cleaned his uniform and cut his mop of hair. Never had another problem with him the rest of his enlistment...

    Still done, I even did Monday in ranks in the MP and Friday push ups and flutter kicks before the safety brief. :D

    My pet peeves were talking on the cell phone while walking, bad looking barets, bebop walking and guys that chewed soldiers out while they chewed dip in their office. That last one used to get me to no end. Ever ask a CSM or LTC to take their dip out before reading an article 15? It’s a great expression. Fucking hypocrites.

    In 1980 I had a 1st LT cross a parking lot between cars just because he spotted me out of the corner of his vision just so he could get a salute. I gave him his salute and then told him how shitty his attitude was. When he asked who my Commander was I showed him my ETS papers. :D

    only funny when NOT down range;

    sniper check sir.

    Couple others I used were Sapper Fidelis (no offense Marine brothers!) and Sappers eat their dead, although didn't use the last one after deployments started.

    Amen to that... nothing worse then one that just doesn’t get it. One of my company commanders was like the guy in heartbreak ridge, should’ve been a staff officer instead of running a line platoon.

    I had a bunch of platoon leaders our first tour that went to the career course with him, after his command (they knew he took over the company they were PLs in) I’d run into them from time to time and they would talk about how he barely passed the course and got made fun of. I’d talk about how he almost got guys killed down range. It was good times.

    oh yeah, not to use names but.. Wycoff.

    @shane100700 Funny how we remember names. I met that 1LT for 5 min in 1980 and still remember that his name was Lt. Kay :rofl:

    I just remember him because we fought almost daily for 2 years. The second I hit my 24 months platoon sergeant time (rated time) I ended up getting sent to be a battle cpt. He was clearly counting the months. He even fired a LT for telling him to do his job when the guy wouldn’t let him request on site security from the battle space owner for a mission he didn’t have enough men for. That guy was certainly special.

    I lectured a Navy lieutenant commander who said “thank you” when I saluted him during my last deployment. In front of everyone there at the CAOC (combined air operations center) entrance I “explained” that a salute is a “gesture of respect among professionals, not a goddamn Christmas present.” Basically I let him know that the most appropriate and respectful manner to acknowledge a salute is to simply return a crisp salute.

    That got back to the CCM...who asked me to teach that lesson to the CAOC CGOs Group. I also had to teach them the difference between power and authority. That was fun. :rolleyes:

    I swear, some really smart people become morons as soon as they learn to fly airplanes.

    Saluting is overrated. Don’t waste both of our time and effort make me take my hands out of my pockets in order to return a salute.

    Fact. :rofl::rofl::rofl:

    My brother was a flight engineer and would tell his pilots to “shut up and drive the bus” if they got out of line.

    Hmmm sounds like every flight I’ve ever taken into theater. Get over yourself, you fly a C5, the guys with better OML rankings are in the fighters and bombers.

    To put it into an Army perspective, I always told my cadets to get good grades because they didn’t want to end up being the chemical officer.

    If you were chem- no offense but it’s a fact they never fill the quota and it’s the lowest requested officer branch.

    Actually, the heavies were in higher demand because you actually log more hours. A cargo or tanker pilot will fly 3 to 4 times longer in their career than a lawn dart jockey, and those cumulative hours matter when you’re all applying to fly for Southwest when you retire. The guys with multi-engine experience have the advantages.

    Better deployments for the heavy folks, too. Except AWACS and RJs. Those 18 hour missions are brutal.

    Nope, had one of those come up to me and my buddy Jay. We spent 5 years together going through all kind s of shit in South America. About a month before we got out we were standing in a hanger, bootcamp JG veered out of his way to "give us an order". Now you need to understand the visual, you have 2 fleet sailors with 3.5 rows of ribbons on our whites, this motherfucker VEERS out of his way, complete with his ONE geedunk ribbon and shiny new brass bar and proceeds to tell us that we need to go move these fucking tables.
    After we got done telling him what he could do with that thought process, we walked away.
    Little fuck went to our commander and wanted to write us up. Commander asked him what was the worst ass whipping he ever got. When he looked kind of weird back at him, the skipper said, keep it up and those two will put you in the ground, literally.
    From that point on, he veered away from us when walking.

    Jays dead now, miss that mother fucker. Had a stroke at 45 and couldnt take talking like a retard, so I think he handled it his way. Don't really blame him.
