I'm currently in the middle of doing the 4lo TRAC mod on my truck. I've ran the wire to the fuse box but the add a fuse wire plug in isn't fitting inside the fuse box under the lid. The wire sticking out prevents the lid from closing... or it does close and its bending the wire all to hell making it loose and I don't want that.

Is it OK to modify the lid to close around the wire? I.e Dremel a small opening for the wire to fit through.

Should I worry about moisture getting in?

Is running an inline fuse directly to the battery a better solution?

The fuse box is open to air. It’s not sealed, a small hole is fine.

A ring terminal on the main lug of the fuse box and an inline fuse would be a better option if your using the under hood fuse box, then you can feed the wire down next to the main power wire without modification.
That's how I have my acessories connected and then I have relays to turn them on.

I wound up dremeling out about a 1 inch notch in the side of the fuse box lid and the add a fuse goes right through. Mod is complete and seems to work.

Actually no but it would still protrude out the side and prevent the lid from closing.

    Details, details...
Which location (circuit) to tap did you choose?

I tapped off of the 20 Amp radio fuse. The wire shoots off to the left and this is what prevents the box from closing.

If it's the bottom on near the corner, the source pin is near the box edge and the circuit faces inside the box. (as in the add a fuse is incorrectly installed)

So you're saying it is facing the wrong way? It does work, radio is on and working fine.

I couldn't face it the other way because of the relay that's right next to it.

And the next fuse above it? Would it not clear the relay?

It may, but I'm unaware of what amp fuse is required for this lead to the wire.

The main issue for me was finding something that supplies 12v all the time while the truck was on. And I'm not sure of anything else aside from the radio.

The ONLY fuse I'm aware of the is IGN controlled is the EFI No.2.
All other fuses are battery hot.

So I'm ok to plug into another spot then with the correct fuses

If you need power always on, yes.

Will the gadget add fail if it had power always?

It's a 4lo Traction control mod. It's to turn on TRAC by using the VSC switch when in 4 wheel drive low. People usually just tap off the 12v source in the glove box but I wanted a cleaner solution
