    thanks in advanced

On the 18’s I haven’t seen that there’s many known issues, it seems all the early onset issues have been corrected for the most part. I’d still check to make sure the rear diff isn’t leaking, no oil leaks on the front engine cover, no odd wear on tires due to improper alignment, etc. Roll down the windows and let that engine rev and make sure everything checks out. Is it CPO at a Toyota dealer or private party?

EDIT: go test drive one. There’s people here that say the transmission doesn’t shift right blah blah, but to me mine drives perfectly fine and I had a 4runner with the 4.0 drivetrain and it ain’t a night and day difference.

How much? There is a whole bunch of used 3rd gens around here priced the same as new. Chances are you’d pay the same or less buying new, and you get your choice of color.

I don’t know how the 2018 automatics shift, but the automatic transmission still shifts like crap —or should I say, still refuses to shift— despite the reported “improvements” done to it for 2019. Owners report miscellaneous driveline shudder issues. And the seats are still terrible, but you probably know that already.

Other than that, Tacoma feels solid, holds its value and looks handsome as usual.

In British Columbia the asking price for a used low mileage Tacoma makes buying a new one with the options and colours that you want, a better way to go. I also discovered that the Access Cab Manual Transmission truck that I want are too rare to expect to find used.

I was putting away money with a future purchase in mind, but then Toyota Canada came out with Red Tag Days 1.99% financing for 36 months, so last week I made the TRD AC OR MT on the local dealer's showroom floor, MINE.

So consider getting new for choice and financing and consider a manual transmission to avoid any possible auto trans issues.

You can buy new for nearly the same price as used.

Also I don’t trust the words spacer lift and professional in the same sentence.

Personally, I'd just buy a new one. Sucks u can't wait till 2020 models with the entune 3.0. if u are buying used the '17s were the last year without all the TSS junk standard. Also, buy a manual if you can... way better than the autos on 3rd gens.

    I found a 16 used manual with 50k miles for 31k.

Bought mine new for 33k. Of course i bought the extra warranty that jumped it up a lot but i would have done the same on the 16.

It would have to be a hell of a deal on a used one to do that over new.

In my opinion the mods lower the value. You might buy someone else's screw ups

I have an 18. Transmission is fine. Seats are fine. It’s a truck, I’m not expecting it to drive like a luxury sedan

As others have said, I think your best bet would be buying new. Find a nice TRD OR without the premium package and haggle them down 3-4K, I really can’t think of a better truck for the money than that. I personally sprung for the premium package and honestly I would’ve been more than fine saving a few grand and going without.

He sums it up well. I would emphasize test drive it thoroughly. As Rustytaco71 said, some owners complain about the transmission shifting. I have no issues with the transmission.

Curious what tax and title cost. It added nearly $4k to the price of mine here in Commifornia.

Oh, it’s a lot less here in Washington. Sales tax is 8.6% where I live, and you only pay it on the difference. Registration is around $150. Altogether, it was about $2,000 in tax and license.
