The schooling aspect isn't too tough, but most jobs with AZGFD, USFWS, USFS, NPS, etc are all requiring bachelor's in a natural resource area of study. You're right, volunteering and interning is most of it though to get a good job a some point.

Gonna bump this really quick, got a question. So this is the sorta place im looking for as my first place

    1. 1000>Square feet( I dont need a whole lot of space, more room for junk to get into and rent will be lower)
    2. Sub 700$ rent (for one) if i can swing it, ive never lived with anyone throughout college and I liked the arrangement

I guess what im really asking is are there smaller type homes/apartments that can meet this or am i being unrealistic?

    Some stuff here and there....
Most apartments around the valley you will be looking at 900-1200 a month. They are really proud of them. Unless you dont mind the more "sketchy" parts of the valley. Look in the out skirts more and it will get cheaper. Just stay away from the bigger popular areas such as tempe scottsdale down town areas

Things get cheap on the outskirts bro. I live in San Tan Valley. Our mortgage is 917/ month. We rent out our other 3bedroom / 2.5 bath / 2k sq foot home for $950.

When are you looking at coming out? Didn't want to read the whole thread.

House next door to me is going up for rent soon. I'll ask my friends (the owners) what their price point is. Pretty sure it's like 3 bed/2 bath 1400ish sq ft.

It's on the outskirts in STV.

As for apartments in Tempe and Mesa you can find them for that range, there is a pretty decent apartment complex called east ridge apartments in Tempe, just far enough from asu to now be bogged down by college kids and traffic, but close enough in a car 5 mins later to be back on campus. Rent on a 2 bed 1 bath with carport parking use to be $650ish granted that was 8 years ago but could always use that as a benchmark and see what it is now.

never heard of that. Gonna have to dwell and research

These are the areas im trying to avoid, id rather not pay a premium to be near all the hustle and bustle

.-. I'll be heading out that ways around august its looking right now, could be pushed forward/backward depending on circumstances

Been living in Phoenix a couple years after moving from Indiana and it has definitely grown on me. Live close to where Phoenix, Scottsdale and Tempe meet so its easy to get everywhere, rent is 700 for 700 sq ft so a little smaller than you are looking for. Kinda like the others said, the price range for rent is pretty wide. We are right next to park and can walk out directly onto the trails so it feels a little less like living in the city. Play soccer in a league in Tempe, pretty laid back and you would be more than welcome to play.

Good luck with the move and job search.

If you are young and willing to run, the valet company I work for is always hiring. I can put in a good word for you and the pay is around 17-25/ hour consistently based off what restaurant you are assigned. Good money, fun job, short hours.

Closest cross streets are 52nd St. and Van Buren. Next to Papago Park/golf course. Had never lived in the city before moving here and was dreading the noise but its a pretty quiet area which is nice.

Definitely get it. A short visit would probably be your best bet, Phoenix/the Valley is really spread out so doesn't feel quite as urban as most decent sized cities.

Not to bad. Kinda on the edge of questionable parts of town. (not that I can say much being at 43rd Ave and Northern)

Mine is a similar amount financed, but 20% down. Plan on about $150/mo for escrow covering Property Taxes and Insurance. 0 down is going to kick in PMI, which looks to be 1% of financed per year ($83.33/month for every $100,000).

Then your normal utilities (higher in a house than an apt.) and misc. repairs and upgrades.

    Escrow? Whats that

    PMI?

Even if it's just me living in a house and i dont use much stuff anyways is the utilities really gonna be that much more substantial?
