I'm looking to buy a new 4x4 Access Tacoma but I'm hesitant to buy one now b/c I hear there will be new engine options coming soon for 2013. Have you heard if there will be a more powerful 4cyl with a 5-speed auto perhaps?

If they did offer a more powerful 4cyl engine, say 185hp with an efficient 5 speed auto transmission, would you consider that over getting the V6 if you were able to save 2-3 mpg? If they offered a more powerful V6 or even a V8?

Also, What's the latest word out on the upcoming changes?
    I found this...(Mentions two v6 and two 4cyl engines for 2013.)

wrong a diesel in a car can go 15 k in a semi its 30k. fuel filters at 15k. but the right 4cyl diesel would prob get around 35 mpg in a tacoma.

I would totally go for a new 4-cyl Diesel turbo though. The torque would be immense. Plus the longevity of Toyota. Nom

My buddy just bought a TDI beetle and Its been a nightmare. Everytime he shuts the car off and walks away all the windows roll down. had several issues within a few weeks. he got them all fixed but it was one thing after another for about 4 weeks straight.

Wouldn't the dual vvt-i 4.0L + a 6 spd auto get better mileage than the current option? Why does it say -1 to -2 mpg in the poll?

Seeing as the truck was "refreshed" for 2012 id expect the same truck for 2013. Really doubt they will offer new engine options before a complete redesign.

Id never get a 4cyl myself regardless of fuel economy. Maybe id consider if it was a diesel.

I'm on the fence with the 4cyl b/c I had a 91 nissan king cab frontier 4cyl 4 speed auto 2wd and I loved that truck, although it was in south FL at the time where it is almost completely flat.

I didn't really put too much thought into it. I'm no expert. lol I figured a much more powerful V6 would drop the mpg a couple mpg even with a more efficient tranny.
